Project Selection Overview
A specific residential project was selected for study and application: a private villa located in Saudi Arabia The scope of focus was narrowed down to the first floor, particularly the master bedroom and master bathroom, allowing for detailed design development and BIM integration.
Revit Application in the Project
The selected areas were modeled using Autodesk Revit, applying a variety of standard BIM tools and workflows typically used in real-world architectural projects, including:
3D Modeling of Spaces: Accurate modeling of walls, floors, ceilings, and furniture layouts for the master bedroom and bathroom
Material Application: Selection and application of surface materials (flooring, wall cladding, ceiling finishes) using custom material libraries.
Detailing: Creation of detail views and sections to illustrate key junctions and material transitions
Schedules & Tags: Automated generation of material schedules and annotation tags for clear documentation.
Lighting & Rendering: Placement of artificial lighting and creation of realistic renderings for visualization purposes
Clash Detection (if integrated with MEP): To ensure all elements are coordinated and constructible.
Material Selection Process
For the master bedroom, the materials were carefully chosen to reflect local design preferences and availability:
Flooring: Premium natural wood or wood-look porcelain tiles sourced from a Jordanian supplier.
Walls: Painted drywall in soft neutral tones, with accent panels using textured wallpaper or wood cladding
Ceiling: Suspended gypsum ceiling with indirect LED lighting.
For the master bathroom:
Flooring and Walls: Large-format, moisture-resistant porcelain tiles, with accent walls in marble or natural stone texture
Ceiling: Water-resistant gypsum board ceiling with integrated spotlights.
