2010 Season Opener The Quinnipiac University field hockey team opens the 2010 regular season with a non-conference tilt against Lehigh on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. at Ullrich Field in Bethlehem, Pa. Lehigh will face Northeast Conference foe Sacred Heart on Friday, Aug. 27 in Bethlehem, Pa.

Scouting The Lehigh University Mountain Hawks Lehigh will open the regular season on Friday, Aug. 27 against Sacred Heart before hosting the Bobcats on Sunday, Aug. 29. Lehigh finished last season at 6-11, doubling their win total from the previous season. The Mountain Hawks also posted a 2-3 mark in conference play, advancing to the Patriot League Tournament for the fourth time in six years. The Mountain Hawks return six seniors, five of which are on defense, including goalkeepers Jessica Miller and Lilia Stefaniwsky, who will both see extending playing time in the cage. Lehigh was picked fourth, out of six teams, in the 2010 Patriot League Preseason Poll. All-Time Against The Mountain Hawks Sunday’s non-conference game will be the first meeting all-time between the two teams.

2010 Northeast Conference Preseason Poll The Quinnipiac University field hockey team was picked to finish third, receiving one first-place vote, in the 2010 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Bobcats finished last season 5-3 in the NEC, clinching the third seed in the 2009 NEC Tournament. Bouncing Back Last season, Quinnipiac finished the year at 6-12 overall and 5-3 in the Northeast Conference, with wins in four of their final six games to clinch the third seed in the NEC Tournament.

That’s A Solid Cast Of Players The Bobcats return a solid core of All-Northeast Conference players in captains Katie Van Nostrand (Derry, N.H.) and Tina Watkins (Sweet Valley, Pa.) as well as MacKenzie Liptak (Schuylerville, N.Y.) and Megan McCreedy (White River, South Africa). In addition, junior Amanda DeLouise (Cheshire, Conn.) has earned the starting spot in the cage for the Bobcats.

All-Northeast Conference Megan McCreedy earned her second all-conference honor for her career in 2010. As a freshman in 2007, the White River, South Africa native was named to the All-NEC Second Team after totaling three goals and one assist during her first year with the Bobcats. In 2008, the sophomore midfielder had one goal and a team-high five assists. This season, McCreedy once again led the team in assists, passing out seven helpers while starting in all 17 regular-season games.

What’s On Tap For September The Bobcats play eight games in September, with their home-opener against Boston College serving as one of three on their home turf. Other home tilts include Colgate on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. and Lafayette
