WHAT’S LEFT OF THE PANDEMIC The Covid-19 pandemic has extended the importance of hygiene outside hospitals. However, the trend of recent months requires us to make a further reflection to ask whether the concepts or protocols learned on sanitation and the places designated for reception and anti-contagion, mentioned above, have not been followed consistently or whether they have been “left out” over time. Inside hospitals, there is no doubt that there are environments, such as operating theaters and hospital rooms with a high risk of contagion and favorable to the spread of microorganisms. Inside the operating theaters, one of the first operations to be carried out is to reduce the viral (and bacterial) load: this is why we are talking first of all about cleaning and detergency, accompanied by disinfection. All these operations lead to the sanitation of the place and consequently to the reduction of the possible

“indirect” transmission of the infection. Although there are, within hospitals, different protocols for risk areas (low, medium, high), perhaps more attention should be paid to the controls of cleaning processes. The Deputy Minister of Health, Pierpaolo Sileri, spoke about this aspect on 20 October last, during the biennial event of Forum PULIRE 2020. “The operators of the sector have been little involved in the internal dynamics of the health structures”, declared Sileri, I don’t remember any courses in hospitals on disinfection, when instead a surgeon would also need to know those protocols; nor have I ever seen companies that have come to share something with us ”. There is therefore an urgent need to implement appropriate national protocols, with a view to create greater interaction between
