from the designer My biggest inspiration for this collection of adorable pocket animals is the laughter of children. When a child smiles, the whole world becomes a more cheerful place, and I hope to spread that happiness with every toy I design. These animals are crocheted in a simple, amigurumi style with felt and embroidery details on their faces. I added the details casually to help give them unique expressions and childlike whimsy. I hope these seven animal friends give joy to the young ones, and the young at heart, in your life. Enjoy!

about the yarn Ezgi's darling menagerie and sweet Dalga blanket are brought to life in two of our very favorite yarns—Willet & Chickadee—both grown, spun, and dyed in the USA. Willet is our light, summery bird, sourced from high-quality, responsibly grown organic cotton. The fiber's long staple length yields a deliciously soft yarn with a hint of pretty sheen. Sport weight Willet's neat little stitches are perfect for amigurumi, and it's easy-to-care-for fiber makes it an ideal choice for a treasured baby blanket. Spun from soft, 100% American wool, Chickadee is a little darling. Soft, plump, springy, and eager to loop into intricate color patterns or delicate textures. Its three plies are twisted together firmly enough to be sturdy, yet gently enough to be soft and cushiony. A perfect match for Willet's gauge, Chickadee brings wooly warmth to Ezgi's Bear and Sloth patterns.

Quince & Co. makes beautiful yarns in natural fibers. We spin our yarns primarily in the United States with sustainably grown, domestically sourced fiber. We began in 2010 with four classic wool yarns in weights from sport to chunky; today, we make seventeen different yarns, with fibers ranging from organic cotton and linen to tussah silk to mohair to alpaca— and of course, our forever favorite, good old wool. You'll find all of our yarns, patterns and books at www.quinceandco.com
