BuLLS

• Owner: Kyle Bergren
• What better way to start the sale than with this age-advantaged bull ready to go to work. Straight from the heart of the Coleman Angus program in Montana, this bull offers maternal genetics at its finest. Kyle has brought his best.

• Owner: Neely Cattle
• Wean Ratio 101 – Yearling Ratio 110 – SC 36 cm
• Heifer bull, out our calving ease specialist Swearngin Charlo 7159 and on the bottom side goes back to our matriarch CG Bridget 1120.

• Owner: Neely Cattle
• Wean Ratio 111– Yearling Ratio 97 – SC 36 cm
• Maternal Cole Creek breeding on both sides, 46P on a Tequila cow that we got from Ginger Hill Angus in Virginia. Use 207 on cows to make replacement quality females. We use him to clean up on our mature cows this winter.
Coleman Charlo 0256
• Owner: Neely Cattle
• Wean Ratio 96 – Yearling Ratio 99 – SC 33 cm
• Study this stout Coleman Navigator son, he has really come on this winter. Out of a Coleman Rito 707-974 cow going back to maternal giant Rito 707, use him on cows.

• Owner: Neely Cattle
• Wean Ratio ET – Yearling Ratio ET – SC 33 cm
• Heifer bull who is a ¾ brother to 211 and is leading off a group of Cole Creek Cedar Ridge 1V sons.

• Owner: Neely Cattle
• Wean Ratio ET – Yearling Ratio ET – SC 35 cm
• First in line in a group of full brothers out of Bridget 1120 and Cedar Ridge. We thought enough of these brothers to use on our fall heifers this winter. 231 is a solid choice for a heifer bull.

• Owner: Neely Cattle
• Wean Ratio ET –Yearling Ratio ET – SC 35 cm
• The next 1120 out of Cedar Ridge that we used this winter on our heifers, and he should work on yours. 238 is stout and was one of our high gaining bull post-weaning.

• Owner: Neely Cattle
• Wean Ratio ET – Yearling Ratio ET – SC 35 cm
• Our final 1120 by Cedar Ridge. This heifer bull was our heaviest bull at weaning. We were confident using him on our heifers and he is a great find in a solid line up of bulls.
9

• Owner: Neely Cattle
• Wean Ratio ET – Yearling Ratio ET – SC 36 cm
• The only Coleman Bravo son in the offering out of our donor 1120. We used him to clean up on our mature cows. Truly saving the best for last, he was our highest gaining bull post-weaning, a phenotypic standout and is suitable for use on heifers.

11

• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• Very easy-doing, easy-fleshing, high-volume bull that can be used on heifers and cows alike.
12

• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• Another heifer bull that offers good growth and good $B numbers. His HP EPD (indicating his daughters’ ability to breed and rebreed as first calf heifers) is through the roof.
10
• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• This bull really rose to the top when I got the DNA back. Absolutely excellent calving ease numbers while being in the top 3% of the breed for weaning and yearling weight. His HP EPD (indicating his daughters’ ability to breed and rebreed as 1st calf heifers) is as high as any you’ll see. His $ values are very good as well, making him very well balanced in all economic traits. To add to it, he is a big-bodied, good-doing bull that has performed well.
B A R Dynamic

13

• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• This bull rounds out the Dynamic sons. They are all big-bodied, good-doing bulls. This bull has a high CED with excellent growth and terminal values. Another all-around, well-balanced bull.
14

• Owner: Jim & Donna Bates
• These Magnitude sons are going to be heifer bulls that sire real growth. This bull is big-framed and easy-going.

• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• Again, excellent calving ease and growth offered here.

• Owner: Jim & Donna Bates
• High CED heifer bull out of a very productive cow.

• Owner: Jim & Donna Bates
• This January bull is the 1st of the 3 Rivers sons and he is a true stud. While not a heifer bull, this bull exhibits as much real growth as any and is out of a cow that doesn’t miss.
Ellingson Three Rivers 8062

20

• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• Another Annuity yearling that has been a favorite as a calf. His mother by Charlo is a model cow. Should make an easy-keeping bull.
18

• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• These Three Rivers sons are suggested for mature cows that should put some punch in a set of calves.
19

• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• Big-boned and stout describes this bull. He will definitely stamp his calves with that same quality.
21

• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• Heifer bull.

Deer Valley Growth Fund
22

• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• Recommended for cows. This yearling should be an easy-keeper and is out of a Rainfall daughter.
23

• Owners: Jim & Donna Bates
• Youngest bull I have. Has a good look and temperament. He has some stretch and should grow out nicely.

24
• Owner: Jim & Donna Bates
• This bull is the result of an embryo I put in from Jackson. Tried and true genetics that are well tested.
The high-selling calves on the receipt below were recently sold by Brian Coover and were sired by bulls that he had bought through this sale.

BEFORE TURNING OUT
Tips for Caring for a Yearling Bull
1. Your bull is still growing. Make sure he is still getting energy in his diet before turnout.
2. Make sure your bull has something to run with when you get him home. Do not pen him up alone.
3. Semen check and pour and deworm before turn out (all bulls sold today have been semen checked).
DURING BREEDING SEASON
1. Run your bull with a manageable number of head. It is recommended that your bull runs with 1 cow per month of age. 15 months old = 15 cows or heifers.
2. Duration of breeding season should be managed. Running a yearling bull out over 60 days will cause a bull’s body score to go down. It is hard on a yearling bull.
3. Check your bull daily to make sure all appears well and cows don’t seem to be recycling.
AFTER BREEDING SEASON
1. Your bull needs energy in his diet, the best hay, and should be on a mineral program.
2. Bull needs to be poured and dewormed when you bring him in.
