Edinburgh Budget Food Top 5
Now that we are in the last week of the festival, money may be getting tight, so here are our five favourite budget food buys.
In first place is the Mosque Kitchen, which has been a staple on the Edinburgh food scene for over 20 years—a firm favourite with locals and tourists. With curries from £7, it hits the spot! Informal, familyfriendly budget curry joint offering no-frills cuisine. Our favourite is Chicken
Biryani, a mixture of spices, coriander leaves, and yoghurt with rice and fried onions.

31-33 Nicolson Square, Edinburgh EH8 9BX
Second place is Heavenly Scran @ Cloisters Bar. Even during the festival, they run their lunchtime £8 menu from Tuesday to Friday, noon to 3 pm daily. This includes burgers, scampi, and several

vegan dishes. With real ale pints from around £5, this makes a great place around which to plan your trip to the festival.
26 Brougham St, Edinburgh EH3 9JH
Head to Piemaker for something filling when you are on the go. Big steak bakes are our favourite, but there are several veggie and vegan options.

The haggis pie is also very nice.
38 South Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1LL

Snax Cafe is the stop for breakfast. An independent coffee shop and cafe serving great coffee and filling all-day breakfast from £5.60. If you want something more filling, the Big Breakfast, at £9.40, is fantastic and will keep you going for the rest of the day.
118 Buccleuch Street EH8 9NQ
Finally, no Edinburgh budget food guide is complete without Ting Thai Caravan. The menu is split into Rice & Noodles, Soup Bowl, Curry and Small Box. If it’s noodles that you’re after, go for the Khao Moo Daeng (slow-cooked pork loin with cucumber and shallot salsa). If you feel like something lighter, the Tom Yam hot and sour soup will warm your insides and protect you from the Edinburgh winds. All dishes come in at under £10.
