In the second edition of Q*, the Editorial Board has stayed true to the journal’s core principles while granting it the freedom to evolve and expand in its ambitions. Whereas Q*’s first edition divided content between four distinct sections—fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and artwork—the second edition has shifted away from this structure. Just as queer communities question conventional boundaries between social identities, so too does the new Q* Anthology respect the poetry in prose, the truth in fiction, and the artistry of the written word. Stylistic changes in the journal’s design echo this commitment to fluidity, ambiguity, and adaptability. New biographies for authors and artists more visibly showcase the University’s queer talent and help to add nuance to the journal’s content. And the content itself seeks to highlight a more intersectional spectrum of queer voices and a more experimental body of creative content.
