Peter Luff

Conductor

Peter Luff has had a diverse and vibrant conducting career encompassing symphonic repertoire, opera and chamber music. Among the orchestras and ensembles he has conducted are the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Opera Queensland Chorus, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra brass ensemble, Bangalow Festival Orchestra, Brisbane Philharmonic, Brisbane Symphony Orchestra, and the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony/Opera Orchestras

Peter has had a long and distinguished career as a professional horn player, playing as Associate Principal Horn with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and performing as guest principal/solo horn with orchestras and ensembles including the Australian World Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Southern Cross Soloists and is a member of the Queensland Conservatorium ensemble in residence Ensemble Q. He has performed as a soloist in Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Korea, Japan and the United States.

Peter is currently Co-Head of Brass and Associate Professor in Horn at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.

Isabella Gerometta

Assistant Conductor

Isabella Gerometta is an Australian composer and conductor. She has worked alongside Simone Young, Jessica Cottis and Alondra de la Parra and currently works with Peter Luff as Assistant Conductor with the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra.

Her original compositions have been premiered and commissioned by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Perth Symphony Orchestra, Camerata - Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Offspring and the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra.

She regularly works with the Düsseldorf Symphoniker (Germany) as an arranger, and in 2024 was invited to Mexico as Assistant Conductor to Alondra de la Parra and The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (Mexico) for the premiere tour of the production ‘Gershwin - La Vida en Azul.’

Andrew Udal Composer

Andrew Udal is a South African born Australian composer who has written works for numerous ensembles both large and small.

Graduating for the Queensland Conservatism Griffith University (QCGU) with a degree in music composition, Andrew has written scores for multiple films including From the Depths created by David Quarell (2019), Academy Nominated short film An Ostrich told me the World is Fake and I Think I Believe It (2022), ‘Behind the Ostrich’ (2023) and Hydrant and Hound (2024) all under the same director Lachlan Pendragon.

He has also written concert works for ensembles such as the Queensland Youth Symphony, Queensland Youth Orchestra 2, Queensland Junior String Ensemble 1, QCGU Symphony Orchestra, Bundaberg Sinfonietta and many more.

Felix Hughes Chivers

Viola soloist

Brisbane based violist Felix Hughes Chivers studies under Imants Larsens and is in his third year of a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium. His passion for viola began at age 11 when he commenced lessons with Pat Brearley at the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium. Felix has been fortunate to participate in a wide range of orchestral and chamber opportunities, such as Australian Youth Orchestra (including the 2025 Europe tour), Queensland Youth Symphony (Europe tour 2023), ACO Academy, Regional Youth Orchestra NSW and many performances with the QLD Conservatorium Orchestra.

Felix also has passion for composing and has created many solo, chamber and orchestral works. He has been awarded the Harmer Endowment Fund for Viola and won the John Curro Viola Prize, Australia and New Zealand Viola Society Solo Viola Composition Prize, the Vada Jefferies Bach Prize and the Ross Peters 4MBS Chamber Prize with Fiddlesticks Quartet.

Felix was excited to participate in the Queensland Symphony Orchestra Academy this year and continues to work with the orchestra on a casual basis. Over the last few years, Felix has had the privilege of appearing with Ensemble Q and has enjoyed playing in diverse and unique chamber performances.
