... the creative heart of the community

Queen’s Hall Arts is a registered charity. We passionately believe that every child in our local area should have access to great arts experiences. ‘A Theatre Ticket for Every Child’ is our new fundraising campaign to provide a free theatre ticket to every child in our community. For many children it will be their very first experience of the magic of live theatre, and a donation of £10 can help make this happen. Individuals and companies can support this campaign which will inspire young children and contribute to memories that last forever. To find out more please chat with our friendly team at the Box Office, or call us on 01434 652477.

Welcome to our Autumn Season This season is a fusion of fresh ideas and firm favourites. From the renowned smiles of Eric and Ern to the latest comedy on the circuit with Tape Face; from the familiar tale of the Hound of the Baskervilles to new productions from the north including Build a Rocket and WOKE; from the long-running show of Julia Donaldson’s Stick Man to a new re-telling of a traditional tale with The Three Bears at Christmas. At the Queen’s Hall, we know that we must remain relevant in a changing world but also provide certainty and great entertainment. We are always reviewing and renewing our programme, but most importantly ensuring that we bring the very best quality performances to Hexham. So, this Autumn we transport audiences with tap dance as you have never seen it before from Old Kent Road, Chekhov with live music and mayhem and a reimagined life of the real Macbeth in Is this a Dagger?

/queenshallarts

And as we all head into the depths of winter the Queen’s Hall will light up Hexham with a wonderful selection of old and new. Our Christmas season will start with a screening of The Snowman accompanied by live musicians, and we will be welcoming back the always hilarious Suggestibles and the foottapping Hot Club du Nord. To round off the year the arts centre will sparkle with laughter as we delight family audiences with a brand new Christmas play full of magic, live music and seasonal cheer all set in Northumberland.

The Trials of Cato Friday 6 December 8.00pm Hexham Library The remarkable rise of energetic trio The Trials of Cato on the UK folk scene has been the subject of massive critical attention. Dubbed “the Sex Pistols of folk,” they pay clear homage to the tradition whilst twisting old bones into something febrile and modern, with stomping tunes and captivating stories. Originally from North Wales and Yorkshire, The Trials of Cato formed whilst living in Beirut, and spent a year boiling down the roots of their sound into a hybrid of traditional influences. Back in the UK, they set to performing tirelessly up and down the country, leading to BBC Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe hailing them as “one of the real discoveries on the folk circuit in recent times.”
