Season Recap The Gaels enjoyed one of their best seasons of the decade as they were simply dominant in the OUA. During the regular season, Queen’s were perfect, outscoring their opposition 411 to 39. Only once did an opponent score more than 10 points while the Gaels scored 30 points or more in all but one game. In September, the Gaels handily defeated 2008 OUA Champions McMaster at Kingston Field in front of a large alumni crowd. In October, Queen’s won at Western for the first time since 2001, with Mason Curtis winning “Man of the Match” honours. After clinching first place in the conference, the Gaels advanced directly to the OUA semifinals where they toppled McMaster 17-8 at Kingston Field. In the OUA Championship, the Gaels took to the field against Western. After falling behind 19-10 in the 2nd half, the Gaels, cheered on by a large crowd of family, teammates and alumni, stormed back to take the lead and held off Western to win the title. The coaching staff recognizes Alistair Clark and Tom Binczyk who graduate after four years of Varsity Rugby with a perfect home record: 24 wins, 0 losses.
