NSW DPI have issued a correction to their probability modelling for future allocations in the Murray system. As a result, the projected allocations by 1 December have been revised to 43% (down by 9% from the original release). Allocations in Murrumbidgee are set to remain on 33% until1 Feb unless wet inflow conditions are experienced. Marsden Jacobs have released their second Water Market Notes for the 2017-18 irrigation season. In summary, strong allocation prices have been driven by dry conditions, low inflows and demand in Murrumbidgee while growth in entitlement prices are being because of confidence in irrigated agriculture across the southern basin. According to The Australian Peter Harris has been served for illegal water use by the The NSW Environmental Defender ?s Office and will appear in the Land and Environment Court onDecember 8. More than 2,000 irrigators in GMW 4 months behind on paying their water authority fees according to The Weekly Times. The article states that the majority of the debt is owed by dairy farmers due to the crisis experienced in April-May of 2016. Extensive rainfall across the whole MDB resulted in some impressive totals predominantly through the Murray corridor and up into the catchments which will see storage inflows improve. The allocation markets have remained steady despite the recent rain. With more rainfall forecast at the end of this week trading volumes are anticipated to thin. The Goulburn IVT remains closed preventing allocation being traded into the Murray system. The negative balance continues to increase and is currently at 66.8GL. The Barmah Choke remains closed preventing allocation being traded downstream. The Murrumbidgee IVT will remain closed until it reaches 15GL; currently at 1.4GL.
