Understanding Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) Furniture, fixtures, and equipment are movable furniture, fixtures, or other equipment that are not permanently attached to a building's structure. The word FF&E is used to describe a range of functions in a variety of domains. FF&E refers to the purchase of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for a new business space or the addition of goods to an existing company space in interior design, architecture, real estate, and construction.
The difference between furniture, fixtures, and equipment: Objects, such as moveable office furniture, are included in furniture. Fixtures are anything that can be secured but isn't permanently attached to the structure or building, such as cubicle dividers or attached storage. A bookcase, for example, may be anchored to a wall to prevent it from tipping over, but its removal will cause no structural harm to the building. A faucet or toilet, on the other hand, would be regarded as a part of the building or premises and would not be deemed FF&E.
