----The application guides provide quick references and ideas on how to apply different aspects of the QMerit platform to your sp ecific business applications. This application guide covers; QMerit Safe In / Safe Out (UWSIO) Opportunity: Advance your pursuit of an injury-free work environment through compelling safe behavior by frequently engaging participants with relevant content, assessments, and validation. Benefits: 1. Safe-In | Safety first | based on a configurable frequency, prevent work from starting until safety content and assessment has been completed. Subset of micro-level benefits are described: a. integrating to transactional systems: interrupting the time collection process, whether via a time management or work order management transactional system, guaran tees compliance. b. start of shift: deliver safety learning content followed by an assessment. Content length (target one to three minutes) and frequency may va ry based on the role and individual. c. establishing the frequency: generally after a compliance baseline has been met, and comparing to existing practices and risk profiles, inappropriate freq uency is established. Frequencies can be configured by role or by individual. 2. Safe-Out | Shift based injury free validation | the participant is asked to check off that they, coworkers, and the workplace are free of injury. A textbook example of the Hawthorne effect in action (type of reactivity in which individuals modify or improve an aspect of their behavior in response to their awareness being observed). Subset of micro-level benefits are described: a. segregating "at work" and "off work": creating a definitive point in time where the participant acknowledges their current state assists in clarifying where and wh en injuries actually occur b. personal, co-worker, and workplace confirmation: the act of checking the confirmation box reminds the participant of the significance of safety and provides the organization with consistent and reliable recording of events 3. Relevant and performance weighted content | when the content speaks to me directly, I will effectively consume and apply the content and are more apt to share my experience with others. Safety culture is built one engaged person at a time. Subset of micro-level benefits are described: a. start of shift: deliver safety learning content followed by an assessment. Content length and frequency may vary based on the role and indiv idual. b. three dimensional content match: individual skills are generally broad and varied. The QMerit platform qualifies individuals as compared to industries, servi ces, and skill groups. Selection and distribution of content is based on these parameters to ensure that the most relevant safety content a nd assessments are delivered to the participant. c. individual performance influence: can a correlation be drawn between an individual's performance and the type of content they consume? Leveraging and grouping participants by the QMerit performance points can add a level of personalization to the content, including but not limited to , length of content. Participants time is valuable, it is important to dynamically "right-size" the experience.

4. Compliance notifications by role/individual | advising the participant and their supervisors in a timely and consistent manner builds trust in the process which is critical for short and long-term success of the safe in safe out solution. Subset of micro-level benefits are described: a. preventing perceived spam: nothing tears down the best organizational intentions as participants classifying your notifications as noise. As participan ts are added to the QMerit platform they are classified in groups and qualified by skill levels. The frequency at which compliance notifications are delivered can be tied directly to these aforementioned parameters. b. personalized by individual risk: individuals may also be categorized as high, medium or low risk based on past safety performance as dictated by your organiza tion's risk and safety departments. An individual in the high risk category may receive more frequent compliance notifications than those individuals in the low risk category. 5. Work activity aligned to natural competencies | systematically establishing a connection between an individual's skills and work activity requirements achieve greater outputs of work performance, awareness and comfort levels. The indirect influence of these outputs have a significant impact on safety. Subset of micro-level benefits are described: a. mismatched skill consequences: experience accounts for more than just work performance it also impacts our ability to see and deal with current and potentia l risk. b. undesirable work psychological impact: a minority of workers may use safety concerns or incidents as an excuse to avoid working in undesirable situations. While som e are authentic concerns many are simply organizational positioning. The opportunity to align competency with work activity elimina tes both of these factors. Deployment thoughts: The top three benefits can be achieved by the simplest level of safe in and safe out implementation. Participant on boarding to the QMerit platform, inventory of existing safety content and assessments, and participant classification are some of the primary project steps. To leverage the fourth benefit an integration will be required to either a work order management system or a time management system. Both of these would be used in a more intrusive manner to prevent a participant from starting and finishing their day without interacting first with the safe in and safe out solution. It is recommended that a phased approach be considered starting with the most straightforward implementation as described in benefits one through three. -----
