In January, we unveiled our new nameGateshead Health Charity We changed because QE Charitable Funds didn’t properly reflect the aims and values of the charity We also launched a new fresh look to demonstrate the contributions made that have improved the experience of our patients, visitors and staff across the healthcare experience in Gateshead
Our new name represents our dedication to going beyond core NHS funding and enhancing patient care and the overall healthcare

Pat Stephenson has been a superstar when it comes to fundraising for Gateshead Health Charity, raising nearly £4,000 since 2021.
Pat has supported the charity by hosting various fundraisers These range from selling crafts to organising Christmas Fayres Gateshead Health Charity is so thankful for Pat's hard work Our charity will use the money Pat has donated to enhance the patient experience at the QE hospital
Pat said, “I chose to support Gateshead Health Charity as I wanted to return the support I have received. I have had multiple treatments at the QE Hospital throughout my journey with cancer.”
Pat was born in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 1948, the same year as the NHS began During her childhood Pat and her parents relied on the QE Hospital For a long time, Pat’s mother fundraised in the corridors of the QE hospital Pat learned from her mother to help others and support the local community.
Despite her ongoing treatment, Pat is planning even more fundraising events for 2024.

Carol Murray is another Gateshead Health Charity star fundraiser.
Carol completed a sponsored silence in support of the St Bede’s Unit and in memory of her late friend Carole Guy. Carole was a staff member who worked for Gateshead Health for 37 years
The funds Carol has raised will be used to enhance the healthcare experience for those in Gateshead
Anna has worked in the NHS for 38 years and always believed in the principle that looking after our staff leads to great care for our patients.
Anna wanted to give something back to say a big thank you to our staff She decided to take on a 10,000ft tandem skydive to support staff health and wellbeing across the Trust

Radio Tyneside became Gateshead Health Charity’s first corporate partner via the corporate partnership scheme The scheme aims to work with local communities and organisations to enhance NHS services and improve patient care.
Radio Tyneside donated and presented the Radio Tyneside 2023 Winners Trophy for our golf grand slam charity event last summer
Co-op Funeralcare Gateshead became our second partner The partnership started with Coop Funeralcare Gateshead creating and supplying the order of service booklets for our Light Up a Life event.

Work is underway to create the Jubilee Courtyard Garden at the Queen Elizabeth (QE) Hospital in Gateshead This garden will provide an enjoyable outdoor space for patients as well as staff and visitors, thanks to the support from Gateshead Health Charity
The project aims to create a space tailored to various groups, including critical care patients as they recover in the hospital. It will offer stroke rehab patients a therapeutic environment to enjoy, give people with dementia safe outdoor time and provide families of organ donors with a memorial space
Kris Mackenzie, Executive Lead for the Charity and Group Director of Finance and Digital said “This garden is a perfect example of the type of projects that we support at Gateshead Health Charity. We hope that the garden will offer a place for reflection. We’re proud to invest in this work and we’re thankful to all our supporters who made this possible ”
Gateshead Health Charity funded the investment of a new VR headset The device is a distraction tool for children undergoing procedures in hospital.
The advanced piece of kit provides patients with a range of visuals to help them feel settled The technology has shown to reduce pain and anxiety in children undergoing procedures This helps makes the hospital environment feel less scary
