Message from CEO

We began this year on a strong note, completing successful shutdowns and emphasising the importance of safety through the issuance of our annual Safe Start video.

As we move forward, we are delivering important events that underscore the utmost importance of safety and reliability within our organisation. These principles serve as the cornerstone of our success as the world's premier LNG company.

Every task we undertake carries inherent risks, regardless of its routine nature. As stewards of safety and reliability, it is imperative that we approach each endeavor with meticulous planning and on-site oversight.

Two noteworthy events that highlight our commitment to reinforcing safety protocols are the annual Safety Day, hosted by the HSE&Q Centre of Excellence, and the annual Safety Summit, led by our Major Projects Group. These initiatives focus on effective job planning methodologies and the essential role of supervisory guidance. By proactively identifying and mitigating hazards throughout every phase of work execution, we ensure the well-being of every individual involved. Safety is a collective responsibility, and through our collaborative efforts, we can guarantee that every task at QatarEnergy LNG is executed with the utmost safety.

At the same time, I am pleased by the success of our recent Reliability Day event, spearheaded by our Engineering and Projects Group. With a remarkable turnout and engaging presentations, this event served as a dynamic platform to raise awareness of reliability principles and highlight the significance of everyone’s contribution to fostering reliability within our organisation.

I commend the HSE&Q, Major Projects, and Engineering & Projects groups for their unwavering dedication to nurturing a culture of safety and reliability and embracing our “Incident and Injury-Free” value. I urge each of us to persist in our pursuit of excellence in all our endeavors.

Together, let us uphold the highest standards of safety and reliability, setting a benchmark for excellence in our industry.

NFPS Compression Project, COMP2, Achieves Major Milestones

The NFPS Compression COMP2 Project is the first in the NFPS Compression programme of projects. COMP2 will deliver two compression complexes CP6S and CP7S, the first in a series of seven total compression complexes planned to be installed as part of the North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) project by 2031.

Compression Project Scope Overview

The EPCI contract for COMP2 was awarded to Saipem in October 2022 and with engineering and procurement well advanced, the project kickedoff fabrication activities in China and Indonesia.

In November, the first steel was cut for the two massive 30,000-ton topsides for CP6S and CP7S topsides in COOEC’s fabrication yard in Qingdao, China. These two platforms will be supported by equally massive jackets which are being fabricated in Karimun Indonesia, along with the two jackets to support the Living Quarters. With the NFPS EPCOL Project already active in the Karimun yard, the opportunity to integrate the management enabled the fabrication of these jackets to commence ahead of schedule. The two living quarters, LQ6S and LQ7S, will be fabricated by BOMESC in Tianjin, China where fabrication commenced in February 2024 and the fabrication of the flares and bridges is planned to start at QCON in Qatar later this year.

Given the importance of Compression to North Field production sustainment, the COMP2 Project is driven to deliver on schedule and is by necessity fast paced. Therefore, achieving these fabrication milestones on, or ahead of schedule is critical to the success of the project. Early fabrication has been made possible by the robustness of the FEED,

early procurement of critical long lead items and focused engineering efforts to avoid engineering re-cycle. COMP2 Project team’s ONE TEAM approach with Saipem, ensures opportunities to de-risk the project schedule and provide higher certainty of execution are realised and future projects milestones are maintained.

The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) annual conference at Qatar National Convention Centre provided a platform for AKIS students to enhance their leadership and interpersonal skills. This year, the conference coincided with UNESCO’s International Day of Education on 24 January, focusing on the theme, ‘quality education’. The AKISMUN delegation addressed global issues including the education crisis in Kashmir, navigating territorial claims in Antarctica, combating human trafficking in Asia, and mitigating climate change in Pakistan post floods.

These diverse topics reflect students’ commitment to engaging in pressing international concerns. Their efforts have been documented in a report, consolidating the youth voice on these crucial matters and contributing to the broader discourse on global challenges.

“What an experience! Going up on the podium and speaking to an audience full of strangers. It was exhilarating!” - Najma Hilal, AKISMUN Head of Press.

THIMUN Qatar 2024 Leadership Conference A Day in Solidarity with Palestine

In response to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s directive, the AKIS Student Council organised a day of observance in solidarity with Palestine that brought together all 4,000 students, and 530 members of staff in unity with the people of Palestine. Dressed in the colours of the Palestinian flag, the entire school community united under the AKIS Guiding Statement’s pillars of a ‘caring community’ and ‘global citizenship,’ demonstrating the values of compassion, respect, and responsibility.

The day began with educational assemblies, which focused on the rich culture, heritage, and identity of Palestine and Palestinian people. In classrooms, students learned about the country’s geography, landmarks and notable figures, composing prayers and poems for peace decorated with the embroidery motifs of tatreez.

Senior students hosted stalls with traditional games and themed quizzes, henna and face painting, and food sampling of popular appetisers. An olive tree planting ceremony was also held on school grounds as a symbolic gesture of hope and connection with the land.

Staff and students also contributed to the Qatar Charity For Palestine Emergency Fund via a dedicated online donation page and collection boxes around the school.

“I am grateful to be able to celebrate the rich culture of Palestine and share it with others. I am proud to be here and to be part of this. Just like the olive tree we planted, Palestine will always stay standing, in our school and in our hearts.”

Certification Training for QGMS Champions and Specialists on Business Process Management

QatarEnergy LNG continues its commitment to develop employees’ competencies through formal trainings and exposure to latest industry developments and best practices.

QGMS organised a Certification Training for QGMS Champions and Specialists spread across all QatarEnergy LNG groups. Over 75 participants attended the training between 30 October - 8 November 2023 in multiple 2-days modules delivered by BPMInstitute.org, USA, the world’s largest practitionerled community of Business Process Management (BPM) professionals. Apart from the experienced Champions and Specialists, several high calibre nationals were also included in the training to prepare them to confidently undertake future roles as QGMS Champions and Process Owners.

In his keynote address, Ziad Yehya, Corporate Planning and Enterprise Risk Manager, emphasised employees’ training and upskilling as our leadership’s commitment to our Direction Statement value, “we develop ourselves to be our best”. He also highlighted the important role QGMS Champions play in developing and continuously improving our business processes, and how QatarEnergy LNG Premier and efficient processes will be the focus area of our corporate digitalisation strategy and

will help us meet the challenges of the ultimate organisation.

BPMInstitute.org’s wide industry experience also provided an opportunity to informally “benchmark” our management system, QGMS. Two focus group discussions were conducted involving multiple Process Owners/ Managers. There was general consensus among the experts and the participants that QGMS is built on the sound BPM principles of Leadership Commitment, as demonstrated in MLT being the QGMS SteerCo; Value Chain approach, as explicit in our Process Model; and systematic Continuous Improvement, as visible in our regular and structured

Business Process Assurance reviews. At the end of the Champion’s training, a survey was also undertaken to assess QGMS BPM Maturity Level. On a 5-point scale, with 1 being Ad-Hoc and 5 being Optimized, over 75% of the participants rated our business processes at level 4 (Managed – Most of the organization’s end to end processes are improved, measured, and managed) and 90% agreeing that we are ready to leverage BPM technology to move towards more sophisticated and systematic adoption of digitalization opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness.

This initiative was also the direct result of feedback received in earlier QGMS Network Workshops.

We will continue to hold Network Workshops with all stakeholders to reinforce QatarEnergy LNG culture of collaboration and competency development. Such events also help us identify latest industry trends and technological opportunities, which may be instrumental in improving and maintaining QatarEnergy LNG business processes at premiership level.
