Aug. 13 at 9am

It’s my favorite time of year! Fall is here and the holidays are near. It’s the perfect time to participate in the many events and programs we have lined up for you. Whether you want to sign up for an art or wellness health class, guided nature hike, attend Trivia Night, or volunteer with us, we have something for everyone.

The District is excited to announce we are starting an adult and teen Cornhole League! Help us kick off the league, sign up to participate and have some fun competitions. And of course, it’s not fall without our annual Halloween events for the whole family, adults 50+, and our furry dogs in the community.

To end the year, don’t miss the Camarillo Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 14. This year’s theme is “A Candyland Christmas” Parade participant applications are open to include float entries, auto entries, bands, and more.

In addition to our engaging Fall programs, the District staff and contractors are diligently working on several capital projects to enhance our community spaces. This upcoming year, we have an exciting lineup of projects aimed at improving our parks and recreational facilities. Among these are the completion of the Lokker Park playground, which promises to provide a vibrant and safe play area for children, and the resurfacing of the courts at Pitts Ranch Park, ensuring a top-notch experience for tennis and pickleball enthusiasts.

Furthermore, we are continuing the development of the highly anticipated Freedom Pickleball Complex, which will cater to the growing popularity of this dynamic sport. These projects, along with several other initiatives, reflect our commitment to maintaining and upgrading our parks for the enjoyment of all residents.

Pro Tips for Successful Crate Training

Associate the crate with GOOD things like high-value food and toys. Take your time and make it FUN!

Feed your dog’s meals inside the crate.

Place great things inside when your dog is not looking –let him discover them! Start closing the door briefly only when your dog goes in happily on his own and gradually increase time spent inside.

Put fun things inside with the door closed and your dog on the outside to build desire to get in there!

Build duration with high-value, long-term chews or safe food puzzles that ONLY happen inside the crate (never outside the crate).

If your dog is fussing to get out, you might have gone too fast, Back up to where you were successful and start over from there!
