Reminder of Licencing Requirements and Obligations of Employers who hire Temp Agencies

As an employer of temporary help agencies, there are certain requirements for record keeping, following Employment Standards/ Occupational Health and Safety/Workplace Safety and Insurance.

2025 GREEN BOOK NOW AVAILABLE

YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AND SKILLS PROGRAM
The Youth Employment and Skills Program (YESP) will contribute approximately $13.5 million to projects that employ youth and youth facing barriers. Each project will be eligible to receive up to $14,000 in matching funds to employ one (1) employee. Agriculture and AgriFood Canada is one of several Government of Canada departments participating in the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy.
The intake period is now open. Submit your application on or before February 24, 2025.

PMRA DELAYS NEW TANK MIX POLICY
PMRA announced the implementation timeline for the updated tank mix labelling policy has been delayed until December 20, 2025.
The previous policy remains in effect for now: tank mixing is permitted unless it is specifically prohibited on the label. The agency has stated the large volume of applications PMRA is currently processing is the reason for the delay.

KEN FORTH INDUCTED INTO THE ONTARIO AGRICULTURAL HALL OF FAME
We are pleased to announce that Ken Forth has been inducted into the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame.

PMRA RE-EVALUATION DECISIONIMMEDIATE DISCONTINUATION OF LAMBDACYHALOTHRIN ON PEACHES AND APPLES
As a result of a recent update to the re-evaluation decision of lambda-cyhalothrin by PMRA, several uses were cancelled due to human health concerns, particularly to vulnerable populations such as infants, seniors, children, and pregnant women. Effective February 3, 2025, products containing lambda-cyhalothrin (Labamba, Matador, Silencer, Zivata) may no longer be used on peaches or apples. All uses on other tender fruit are retained.
