DIY video - with your smartphone - Robin Kirkley

Robin Kirkley from Vizeo Media will be presenting a workshop on “How to Tell Stories in Business with Your Smartphone”. In 2023, video is the most effective way to win the attention of your target audience, and is as affordable as pulling out your smartphone.

The Workshop will cover the essentials needed to create a good business video:

• Story structure and principles

• Visual storytelling basics

• Types of stories that are easy to use

• Idea generation

• Where DIY video fits in a video marketing strategy

• Principles of video marketing

• Stages of production

• Smartphone filmmaking

• Equipment and software options

We’ll explore topics such as:

Storytelling. This is the essential ingredient in marketing and sales videos, which are designed to persuade and convert. Stories work well in marketing because their purpose is to change hearts and minds by triggering meaningful emotion and delivering insights. Video is the ultimate visual medium for telling stories that persuade.

Video content strategy. Useful if you want to know where you’re going before you start filming. Planning your video output in tandem with your marketing and sales funnel is the recipe for steadily growing an audience base.

Smartphone filmmaking, which can be as easy or indepth as you’d like it to be. Once you have an idea, build a story around it, and plan your shots and your production, you can simply use the native camera and microphone in your smartphone. There will be limitations, especially with audio, but the video will hang together nicely and people will watch it. If you went a bit more in-depth, you might invest in a smartphone gimbal, an external mic, a light, and maybe a tripod. Also consider software that will enhance the capability of your native camera.

Award winning movies have been made with smartphones. Why not your business video?
