Green East Hunsbury Project Updates
During November we also planted up Grangewood Community Orchard – this project was led by Cllr Claire Douglas (Chair), who secured National Lottery funding for the creation of a community orchard.

In November – Tree Week – the orchard was planted up by volunteers, including all three local schools, and other community members and our local WI. The project was coordinated by the parish council with support from Russell Horsey - Chartered Arboriculturist and Save Our Northampton Street Trees organisation.
As we go forward, our local schools and volunteers will be involved in the upkeep of the orchard, and the fruit will form part of future community cooking projects.
Throughout the autumn we also expanded our Gardening Buddies Project – This is our ongoing green project which includes the community garden at Hunsbury Library, and planting projects with local schools.

East Hunsbury Primary School joined our gardening volunteers for sessions, to plant woodland bulbs at the library, and tulips, for a spring display. Look out for them!
The gardening volunteers then returned the favour, joining the young pupils at their school, for a Saturday morning session – planting up their roundabout.
Thanks to Waitrose Wootton for community funding – and to our gardening buddies of all ages!
