In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to add an editorial review you received to your book’s pages on Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, and NOOK.

Posting Your Editorial Book Review on Your Amazon Book’s Page

Step 1. Log into your Amazon Author Central account. https://authorcentral.amazon.com/gp/home

Step 2. Go to the “Books” section.

Step 3. Click on the title of the book to which you want to add the editorial review.

Step 4. Click the “Add” button to the right of the “Review” section.

Step 5. Enter the review in the following format “Review text” – Source’s Name

Step 6. Click “Preview” and then “Save Changes”.

After adding your editorial review, it should appear like shown above.

You can click the “Add” button to add further reviews.

NOTE: Amazon limits you to 5 editorial reviews.

However, many top, famous, best-selling authors post TENS of editorial reviews. How do they do this?

They simply place all the editorial reviews in ONE Review box with line breaks, instead of one review per review box (and it works perfectly fine for them and Amazon doesn’t mind one bit).

So if you have more than 5 editorial reviews you want to post, simply stick them all together in the first review box as shown before.

Although Amazon says it may take up to 5 days for your review to be published on your book’s Amazon page, usually, the updates are published within minutes.

TIP: Since editorial reviews are such a great marketing tool, some authors quote part of a review at the very beginning of their book’s description. See example:

Posting Your Editorial Review on Your Amazon Author Page If you’ve received a great review from a reputable source, it’s a great thing to quote in your author Bio to impress your readers and add credibility to yourself and your books.

Log into your Amazon Author Central account. https://authorcentral.amazon.com/gp/home

Step 1. Click on “Author Page”.

Step 2. Click on “Edit biography”

Add a quote from the best part of the review(s). Example:

Step 4. Click “Preview biography” and then click “Save”.

Your bio should update shortly.

Posting Your Editorial Book Review on Your Nook Book’s Page You can post up to 5 editorial reviews on your Nook book’s page.

You’ll need to provide the reviewer’s name, source (this can be the magazine’s name), and review excerpt (maximum 500 characters but best to share the best 1-3 sentences from the review. Keep it short and sweet. Readers don’t want to read too much.).

Click “+ Add Editorial Review” to add more reviews or the little grey minus sign (beneath the character count) to delete an unwanted review.

Remember to click “Save” once you’re done.

Adding an editorial review to your Barnes & Noble book page Here are the Barnes & Noble instructions:

“To request the addition of a third-party book review, please send the ISBN of the book and a fair-use excerpt of the review you want entered to titles@bn.com. We will not post full-length, third-party reviews, only fairuse excerpts.

Barnes & Noble licenses full-length reviews from several publications, including Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Reviews. We will not post fair-use excerpts of full length reviews that we license.

Please make sure the source (i.e., the name of the publication or web site where the review appeared) of the review and the author of the review (if there is a named author) are cited in the e-mail message.

All submissions are subject to verification.”

By “fair-use excerpt of the review” they mean a short excerpt of the review (usually 1-3 sentences long).

If you received a review from Publishers Weekly or Kirkus Reviews, you won’t be able to post the review to your book’s page.

Adding an editorial review to your book’s page on Goodreads

Go to your “Author Dashboard” then click on the title of the desired book.

Click the small, grey “edit details” button on your book’s page.

Add the review in the book’s description. Click “Save”.

Asides from the popular sites where books are sold, it is recommended to share your editorial review everywhere else including on your website, in your groups, as posts on your social media accounts, on your book’s front or back cover, and in your Amazon/Goodreads/Facebook/Bookbub advertising campaigns.
