Friends and donors, I want to share my sincerest gratitude for your financial support. We strive to give our students direct experience addressing racial, socioeconomic, and geographic health disparities, and this direct, hands-on experience is invaluable preparation for their careers.

FROM OUR DEAN

MARSHA DAVIS This is why I’m so excited to see that our number of donations continues to grow. Your generosity enables our students to learn more and do more to improve the health of communities in Georgia and beyond.

The College of Public Health mini-grant program, supported by the College of Public Health Fund, asks interdisciplinary student teams to formulate a community research project that addresses a public health problem confronted by underrepresented or otherwise marginalized or underserved members of the local community. In the spring of 2023, student researchers Hope Grismer, Niamh Keogh, Sloane Sengson and Harper Pendley partnered with UGA’s Cognitive Aging Research and Education (CARE) Center to explore how the dementia care and prevention experts can work with faith communities to help their work reach more people in need. professional skills.

AARON DINO Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Behavior (BSHP ’24, MPH ’25)

“As a health promotion student in the College of Public Health, I have devoted my academic endeavors towards community health and infectious disease epidemiology. My experiences [in the Ghana Service-Learning Program] have amplified my prior experience by contextualizing my public health background in a non-domestic context.”

The Ghana Service-Learning Program is an intensive practicum consisting of hands-on community health. The service-learning nature of the program exposes students to nutrition and health issues through the prism of resource-limited countries, such as Ghana.

In turn, our exceptional students pay forward their knowledge, passion, and talents to our communities. The 2005 Society members will receive tokens of gratitude, published recognition, and access to special CPH events.

“The UGA alumni community was critical to my success in the EHS program both through scholarship and informal mentoring support. Giving back through programs like The 2005 Society is one way I am happy to support future community and global public health leaders.” —April Crow (BSEH ’95), Member of The 2005 Society, CPH Alumni Board Member
