Company Dancers MARTIN GONZALO JUSTO BERNARDEZ is from Caracas, Venezuela, and began dancing in 1999. He trained with Quinte Ballet School in Canada and School of Carolina Ballet Theatre. He toured throughout Uruguay with CBT and has recently performed as a guest in Fujinomia, Japan, dancing pas de deux from Giselle, La Bayadere, and Swan Lake. Some of his signature roles are the charming young Nutcracker Prince in Hernan Justo’s The Nutcracker, the Mad Scientist in Madeline Jazz’s Super Heroes, and the male soloist in A Tango for Angelina. While dancing with CBT, Martin performed in works by renowned contemporary choreographers including Dwight Rhoden’s Beatle Juice and Alonzo King’s Map. This is Martin’s first season with Boulder Ballet. JULIANNA BICKI began her training with the International Ballet School. She later continued her training with Zamuel Ballet School, Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts, and Ballet Society of Colorado Springs. While training at Walnut Hill, Julianna was honored to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2008. Julianna has twice won first place at the annual Esther Geoffrey Young Dancer’s Competition, and has won fourth and fifth places at Denver Ballet Guild competitions. Julianna danced with Texas Ballet Theater under the direction of Ben Stevenson, O.B.E. as a trainee during their 2010–11 season, and since then has performed with the Colorado Jazz Dance Company, Ballet Frontier (Texas), Owen/Cox Dance Group (Kansas City), Napoles Dance Theater (San Francisco), and Arc Dance Company (Seattle). This is Julianna’s second season with Boulder Ballet. KELSEY BYRNE is from Orange County, California, where she received her training at the Orange County High School of the Arts in Santa Ana as a member of the Classical and Contemporary Dance Department. She also received training during summer intensives at the Boston Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet, and Alonzo King’s LINES. She recently graduated from the Ballet Department in Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. At IU, she had the opportunity to perform a variety of Balanchine works including The Four Temperaments, Western Symphony, Emeralds, and Swan Lake, as well as classics such as La Bayadere and Michael Vernon’s adaptation of The Nutcracker. This is Kelsey’s first season with Boulder Ballet. RANIA CHARALAMBIDOU is from Nicosia, Cyprus. She attended Jacksonville University where she was awarded the Outstanding Freshman and Sophomore awards by the Dance Department. She graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Dance Education and a Math minor from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. While in New York, she trained at the Joffrey Ballet School and with Elena Kunikova at Steps on Broadway. Rania has been a company member with Sarasota Ballet, Columbia City Ballet, and Ballet San Antonio. In 2009, she performed with the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Susan Stroman’s Tony Award winning musical Contact. Rania has guest performed with San Angelo Civic Ballet, San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet, Dance Cyprus, Diesel | Fusion Dance Theatre, Florida Ballet, Freespace Dance, the Dance Platform contemporary dance festival in Cyprus, and many more. She also guest performed in the 50th anniversary celebration of the independence of Cyprus in 2010. Outside of dance, Rania is the co-owner of Long Body Yoga and 35° 33° Dance Company in Cyprus. This is Rania’s first season with Boulder Ballet.
