WATER AND SEWER HYDRANT FLUSHING - MEREDITH The Meredith Water Department will start its semi-annual hydrant flushing program on or about Monday, April 12, thru Friday, April 30, from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Please be advised that flushing may cause some discoloration of water and slightly elevated levels of chlorine. This does not represent a health hazard. However, customers are cautioned to determine if the water is clear before washing clothes (or any other processing) as staining may occur. If you experience discolored water run the cold water in all your faucets for approximately 5-10 minutes. The Water Department regrets any temporary inconvenience you may experience; however, the flushing program is required to rid water mains of accumulated sediment and is necessary to ensure the continued high quality of the water distribution system.
