YOU Can Help PROTECT YOUR LAKE From MILFOIL! Exotic weeds such a variable milfoil can impair our wildlife habitat, the quality of recreation activities such as swimming and boating, and can potentially lower property values. In Meredith, significant milfoil infestations exist on Lake Winnipesaukee, Lake Winnisquam and Lake Pemigewasset while other lakes such as Lake Waukewan and Lake Wicwas are threatened. The Town of Meredith has worked closely with the Department of Environmental Services, Exotic Species Program, to formulate a plan for prevention, early detection, and control activities associated with exotic aquatic plants like milfoil, so that we can better protect these natural resources that surround us. We need your help! Residents, businesses, homeowners associations, beach managers, swimmers and boaters are asked to help take on this threat. Be proactive. Become a trained volunteer Weed Watcher.
