Consistently across all the pages that I interacted with, there was a use of aggressive bold serif fonts. The type, usually isn’t the subject of the design, but tends to still rank high in hierarchy in the overall composition.

The fonts used for this spread are Monument Extended and Montserrat.

I discovered the monument font from one of the designers that I follow, who shared his favorite fonts to use in design.

The Monterrat font is one that I discovered last semester for a Graphic design Project.

The rounded serif style works well to balance out the often geometric heavy compostion in sports design. I also just personally do not like strictly geometric fonts 2

I am a huge lover of spicy foods and the BU dining hall is a daily reminder of my diminished access to spice and seasoning while on campus. So I visited Star Market and strolled down the spice aile to get a bottle of cholula. At the same time though I took notice of the typography on the labels.

I was inspired by the type used on lables for spices, condiments. The fonts used are more expressive and irregular because they are being used in unique logos.

The fonts chosen heavily reflect the spice or condiment that is in the bottle.

Whether you’re the type who likes brunch, or the one who’s always snacking in between meals, food brings out the quirky side in all of us. There are also plenty of projects centered on gastronomy. From restaurants, cafes, food blogs, to cookbooks, there’s no shortage of food-inspired works for graphic designers.

If you love working with good food, you’ll know how difficult it can be to find the right elements that go great together. Pictures aren’t the only ones that can make mouths water – the correct font could also do the trick.

Curly scripts, for instance, look sweet and delectable. Meanwhile, linear, straight fonts would look interesting next to haute cuisine.

This bold bubble serif font is super popular among sororities. Especially in combination with the wavy warp effect.

I work for Fresh Pritnts, which is a custom apparel company, and my job consists of reaching out to organizations to work on apparel orders. Most of these organizations are fraternities or sororities on campus, so I have begun to take notice of the typography used in the apparel designs.

There is a large variety of font usage, and I’ve seen all kinds of serifs, sans-serifs, black letter, etc. Most of the time though, the fonts tend to be playful and dynamic.

Life

This is a blackletter font. This font is often assoicated with a somewhat edgy aesthetic or tries to achieve the idea of regality.

You don’t always have to be fancy.

Sometimes a a simple sans-serif font gets the job done.

Serif is less popular than handwritten fonts (though they hit a peak in the ‘90s).

Serif As you might expect, there is a very wide range of fonts used in album cover art.

However, there are 4 typefaces that have been consistently popular throughout history.

Sans-serif has been the most popular category of typeface on album art for the past forty years.

2019 was the first year in observable history that handwritten/ script fonts outnumbered all other types of fonts — serif and sans serif.

Tunes & Type The usage of brush fonts often allow for a more analog aesthetic to the text since the brush tends to have that rough texture.
