messages JCI MALAYSIA NATIONAL PRESIDENT JCI SENATOR KEN LEE KIEN ZHANG Dear JCI Members and Friends of Area Central South, Greetings from the Historical City of Malacca!

First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Area Central South team for giving me the opportunity to pen down a few words and warm greetings in the newsletter to welcome the year of 2020. Area Central South being one of the largest areas among JCI Malaysia indeed brings upon long history of achievement and the strategically located Local Organizations within the Area.

In year of 2020, JCI Malaysia will focus on four categories which are Sustain, Lead, Inspire and Motivate.

The S.L.I.M. movement implementation is to ensure every local organisation can grow healthily and sustainably. We believe that only healthy and growing local organisations can lead towards a healthy and growing national organisation. Global Impact is happening now. As a JCI member we do not only BE together but also WORK together, then only we are able to UNITE AS ONE and LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND. Unity among all leaders and Local Organization is one of the main ingredients that make a successful organization. And thus, in year 2020, igniting our dreams to unite all leaders, sectors and society regardless of the culture, background and geographical differences.

Last but not least, I would like to take this opportunity to thank 2020 Area Chairman JCI Senator Leong for taking up the challenge to lead the Area and at the same time I would like to also congratulate the newly installed Area Directors for taking up this opportunity to walk together in this great journey. With a strong, passionate and united members, let’s together bring JCI Malaysia to even a greater height in 2020!

First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thanks my Area Publication Director Shirley Pang for her effort to produce this special edition of 2020 Area Central South Academy. This is the first area project for the year 2020. I sincerely thanks to Hosting LO JCI Kuala Lumpur Mandarin President William See, and Organizing Chairman Chong Hian Loong and his dedicated teams who willing to take the challenge to host 2020 JCIM Area Central South Academy within the short period of time.

I also would like to thanks Head Trainer PNP JCI Senator Velvet Ooi together with her committed trainer’s team and facilitator’s team for designing such great training programs for our participants.

“The Revolutionary 3 in 1” consists of JCIM Empower program which is designed for the Local Board of Directors; JCIM Inspire program which is designed for the new member and Head Trainer Training program which is designed for the Certified Trainer prepared to be a competent head trainer.

This year, we have received more than 100 registered participants for our Area Academy. Special thanks to all the LO members and Area teams for your efforts and trust to make this event successful. I strongly believe that our Area Central South will achieve another greater height with the support and co-operation from all the LO members.

messages JCI MALAYSIA AREA CENTRAL SOUTH SECRETARY GENERAL JCI SENATOR LAWRENCE LAU PICK HOCK It gives me immense pleasure to extend my warmest greetings to JCI Kuala Lumpur Mandarin for endorsing me to serve as JCIM Area Secretary General for the year 2020. This is my 3rd times served as Area team officer, after year 2015 and 2016 as Area Partnership Director and Area Training Director respectively. Sincere thanks to JCI Senator Leong Kong Meng for the trust and confident on me after I served as Asia Pacific Development Officer (APDC) during 2017-2018. Heartfelt thanks and congratulations to 2019 JCIM Area Secretary General, Stanley Goh who has served throughout the year and will continue to serve as 2020 JCIM National Secretary General.

As JCI member who is also a young active citizen, we are always there to serve our community and create sustainable solutions. We are here “Dare to dream, Act, Lead and Enjoy” every moment of community and nation.

“Community impact” – Increase exposure; “Motivate” – Encourage members to participate; “Invest”– Ready and involve in any activities; “Collaborate” – Create more opportunities for crossover projects with local Government; “Connect” – Member retention and activities.

It gives me an immense pleasure to welcome you to JCIM ACS Special Edition Newsletter.

This newsletter is not only a compilation of articles, but more importantly, it is a journey back in time, reminiscing beautiful memories and past events that have been the stronghold of JCIM ACS all these years. The past few months have been full of exciting and memorable events to capture both the hearts and minds of our young active citizens and lovely audience.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our 2020 JCIM ACS Area Chair JCI Senator Leong, ACS Area Team, and all the members as well as aspiring members for their relentless support and always offer their precious time to present in any event. I always believe, "There is no top. There are always further heights to reach!" As the JCI slogan says: Be Better. It is not only possible improvements to the environment and people around us, but also our responsibility to be better than we were yesterday! I wish all of you a pleasant journey back in time with these sharings!

This is the first ever academy that combine JCI Malaysia Inspire, JCI Malaysia Empower, and JCI Malaysia HTT program. It was hectic but I am glad that all Jaycees enjoyed it. It assures me that JCI manage to take a giant leap in empowering young people As an organizing chairman, I know that the success of this academy depends ultimately on the many people who have worked with us in planning and organizing, and how every Jaycees can get the ultimate benefit from this academy.

We hope you enjoyed the warm welcome and gracious hospitality during these 2D1N Area Academy!

加⼊了两年的⻘商蓝⾎⼈⽣涯的确为⾃⼰的⼈⽣ 增加了不少⾊彩和历练。从懵懂、不知天⾼地厚 ⼜⻅识少的“电话佬”，直到今⽇的我—深深地明 ⽩感恩、谦卑与真⼼付出才会受⼈尊重的道理。 在这⼀次的2020 JCIM AREA CENTRAL SOUTH ACADEMY 中，除了学习了不少，也获益良多，不 仅仅只是能⼒上，更在智慧与⼼智层⾯上有所成 ⻓。我们的团队就只有14⼈，在整个筹备过程 中，⼤家都尽⼼尽⼒地做到最好，整个团队⼤家 都拥有同⼀⽅向与⽬标，那就是为每⼀位来宾提 供4星级的酒店住宿，5星级的待遇，6星级的服 务，因为这个信念，所以这⼀次的 ACADEMY 意 想不到地收到了许多正⾯的评价与回响。我⾮常 庆幸，在这路程上我并不孤单，因为我拥有⼀个 那么强⼤且团结的团队，⾮常感激上天让我遇⻅ 了这班 JCI KLM 兄弟姐妹，我爱你们！ 我在此再⼀次衷⼼感谢所有的来宾，你们 的参与给予我们这个团队最⼤的⽀持与⿎ 励，若没了你们，这⼀场 A C A D E M Y 也⽆法 顺利进⾏，感恩你们给了我和我的团队这 ⼀次的机会为⼤家服务，谢谢⼤家！

JCI MALAYSIA AREA CENTRAL SOUTH AREA ACADEMY & INSTALLATION OF 2020 AREA TEAM Hosted by JCI Kuala Lumpur Mandarin 21st - 22nd December 2019 | The Pearl, Kuala Lumpur

JCIM Area Central South (ACS) Academy is an annual event that gathered all the future leaders from local chapters in ACS and prepared them to be good leaders, as well as empowered them to create positive change. The 2D1N Area Academy is hosted by JCI Kuala Lumpur Mandarin, from 21st to 22nd December 2019, at The Pearl Kuala Lumpur. Under the slogan "The Spirit Of Tiger, The Power Of Central South", JCI Kuala Lumpur Mandarin and the trainer's team have prepared numerous intensive programs for the participants. The trainer's team is lead by our 2002 JCIM Past National President JCI Senator Velvet Ooi, who is also assisted by five assistant trainers: 2017 JCIM Past National President JCI Senator Nurul-Huda, 2020 JCIM National General Legal Counsel JCI Senator Ellen Lu, 2020 JCIM National Secretary General Stanley Goh, 2020 JCIM National Treasurer Viviane Tong, and Certified NLP Trainer Mr Lai. What makes the Academy special this year is the three pilot programs: JCIM Inspire Program, JCIM Empower Program, and JCIM Head Trainers Training (HTT) Program. JCIM Inspire Program is specially for those new members who just joined JCI for not more than two years. The main purpose of the program is to help new members to further understand how JCI relates to their life and career, also how to develop themselves as an active citizen and a competent leader. For JCIM Empower Program, it helps to equip local Board of Directors with the best practices in the hope that sustainable solutions can be created for the local chapter in every aspects, includes financial stability, sustainable membership, efficient administration, impactful projects, leadership and succession. Last but not least, JCIM HTT Program is specially designed for aspiring Head Trainers (JCIM Certified Trainers) in order for them to groom themselves to be an effective and well-respected trainers, and pass on their knowledge and experience.

On 22nd December 2019, the installation of 2020 JCIM ACS Area Team was held right after the closing ceremony of Area Academy.

Installing new officers is a very important procedure in JCI as it has a very special significance to both the newly elected officers and also members. After the installation, JCIM ACS first Area Meeting was held with full board.
