Fred Smith’s remarkable career as songwriter and war zone diplomat was the subject of a recent Australian Story documentary. He returns to Perisher with Liz Frencham and Carl Pannuzzo to play songs from his back catalogue and his new album Home, the follow up to his acclaimed 2011 release, Dust of Uruzgan. FRI SAT SUN

Guitarama are, as the name suggests, a guitar ensemble from south east NSW. Under the direction of guitar teacher Dave Crowden, the current Guitarama are the third combination since 2007. The current version continues the tradition of LatinAmerican guitar styles with Australian influences, with a collection of new original tunes in a soon to be released CD. SAT SAT SUN SUN

Renowned for his powerful presence, inspiring live shows and thought-provoking hip hop lyrics. In a short space of time, this Western Sydney artist has gone from underground community events and ciphers to national tours and major festivals. SUN

The Jindabyne Ukulele Kollective have been entertaining the local community for over 5 years now. Enthusiastically adapting contemporary tunes from folk to rock n roll, all played on various styles of ukulele. SAT

Hussy Hicks Harry James Angus

Harry James Angus is one of Australia’s most prolific, creative and interesting musicians, lending his formidable talents as a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer to a dizzying array of projects. In recent years, Harry has fronted and trumpeted for hit outfit The Cat Empire, formed one half of indie electro-pop duo Jackson Jackson, and lead jazz troupe The Harry Angus Band. SAT

These Queensland girls are well loved for their unique take on the acoustic roots style, Julz Parker dropping jaws with her guitar prowess and Leesa Gentz winning every heart in the room with her soul staggering vocals and enormous smile. Lachy Doley

Dubbed the Jimi Hendrix of the Hammond, a player who can pump, pamper and pound unbelievable, intense, ferocious and sometimes transcendent sounds from his organ and clavinet. Add powerful blues vocals ripping straight from the heart screaming as they pass the vocal chords and you’ve got one mesmerising and unforgettable show. SAT SUN

The Hip Replacements

The Hip Replacements formed in March 2012 and have quickly gained a huge fan base with their blues/rock repertoire. Playing purely for fun and the enjoyment of performing, the local Snowy Mountains band has an all-star line up including bass player Jeremy Paul, Manfred “Manny” Aigner, Stuart Hodges and Wayne Kirkpatrick. Multi instrumentalist does go near to describing this dynamo with didgeridoos, acoustic guitars with electric overdrive, foot percussion and vocals so low that the stage will rumble.

Out of Sydney’s west emerges one of the newest gypsy swing bands, The Squeezebox Trio. Continuing the gypsy swing tradition of the 1930’s forged by the remaining two fingers of legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt, the boys bring in a unique flavour with their own arrangements of jazz tunes, Balkan swing and the occasional Disney film classic. Bowen bears an honest mind when he picks up his guitar. Simply, there isn’t another band doing what they do. Not married to one genre or another, they happily change direction in search of new flavors and inspiration, whenever the moment takes them there. SAT
