This seminar will present an overview of the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program and its priorities. It will detail the structure of the grant opportunity, as well as the non-financial support provided through the BRIC Direct Technical Assistance initiative. An emphasis on disaster-resilient solutions to reduce the risk of wildfire and earthquake hazards will be provided.

In the face of escalating wildfire threats, clear and effective communication is crucial for public safety and disaster management. This seminar, “Effective Crisis Communications During Wildfires,” is designed to equip participants with the strategies and tools necessary to manage and disseminate critical information during wildfire emergencies.

The weather in southern California in 2023 was far from “always sunny”. The year began with atmospheric rivers and flooding, took a cold turn with a blizzard, moved into tornado season, snuck in Tropical Cyclone Hilary, and finished with a 20-year surf event causing coastal flooding. The NWS worked closely with Core Partners through these events to support disaster readiness, response, and recovery.

The opportunities and challenges of engaging with existing prevention and recovery programs and connecting with non-profits that serve our county.

Airports are a major component of our Nation’s transportation infrastructure. The slightest disruption can cause commercial and cargo flight impacts across the globe. This presentation aims to examine Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) operating environment and how it works with it’s stakeholders to prepare for and respond to disasters.

Explore the essential role of Emergency Water Distribution during crises. Learn rapid response strategies to provide clean water and address environmental concerns for sustainable resource management. A SPECIAL EARTHQUAKE COUNTRY ALLIANCE SYMPOSIUM

Join the ECA for an all-day symposium on September 5 about the impacts and lessons of the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, 30 years later.

Presenters will feature people who helped rescue, inform, or protect others (neighbors, firefighters, scientists, engineers, etc.), including several whose stories are portrayed in Quake Heroes, a new documentary from which clips will be shown throughout the day.

The ECA Symposium will also provide guidance about how to receive Earthquake Early Warning messages prior to strong shaking, and an overview of the Seven Steps to Earthquake Safety (how to be prepared to survive and recover quickly). ARRIVING BY CAR

Los Angeles traffic is notoriously tough for good reason, with rush hours between 7am to 10am, then later on at 4pm to 7pm. That’s why we advise leaving your home or hotel with plenty of time if trying to arrive at the show for open at 10am. The LACC provides convenient parking, with the South Hall & West Hall Parking Garages easily accessible via the major freeways. Parking hours are between 5:30am & 9:00pm every day, with flat rates of $15-$40 depending on your spot – note the garages are cashless but do accept contactless cards.
