mental campaigner, a former Mansfield Shire councillor and teacher. She has been involved with small business, farming, and the arts, and a volunteer within community organisations. Kammy said she is running at this election because young people need to have faith that government is making decisions for their future, and not for short-term gain. A ballot draw determining the order of candidate names on the voting ballot followed
the nominations late last week. Incumbent MP Cindy McLeish was elected as the Member for Seymour at the 2010 Victorian State election. Following the 2014 election, she was elected as the inaugural member for the new district of Eildon and was reelected in 2018. She grew up on a farm in Yea and prior to entering parliament, worked as a consultant in the private sector and was the CEO of Women’s Golf Victoria. Wil Mikelsons is from Launching place in the Yarra Valley. He grew up on a small fam-
ily poultry farm and has been a public school teacher for the past 35 years. He’s been a member of the Greens for 14 years. Jane Judd was recently passed the torch for Labor’s Eildon candidacy. She is a trained social worker and teacher with a background is in Community Health Care, most recently as the Alexandra District Hospital Manager Community Health. She has lived in Healesville since 1986. Joshua Rusic (Freedom Party) grew up in Taggerty and went to school in Alexandra before moving to Switzerland
where he trained as a chef. After five years abroad he came back to Australia and started a small cafe in Melbourne. Joshua said the lockdowns led to him closing the business and ultimately running at this election. Chloe Bond (Animal Justice Party) is a victims of crime lawyer who lives within the Shire of the Yarra Ranges. She spends her spare time playing guitar, writing children’s books, and hanging out with her daughter and their animals. Robert Thornton (Independent) has lived in the Eildon District since 1989.
He is a retired engineer who immigrated to Australia from England as a Marine Surveyor with the Department of Transport. In the upper house seat of Northern Victoria - which includes all of North East Victoira - more than 50 people nominated, including incumbents ALP’s Jaclyn Symes, Derryn Hinch’s Justice Party’s Tania Maxwell, and Liberal Democrats’ Tim Quilty. Early voting for the state election is from November 1425 and election day is on Saturday, November 26. Tim Lacey (Family First) was contacted by the Courier for his background.
