Serial killer linked to Bonnie Doon cold case New leads have connected notorious killer Bandali Debs to the murder of Adele Baileyy in 1995
By SHAUN McMAHON SERIAL killer Bandali Debs has now been identified as having a possible connection to the unsolved murder of Adele Bailey, whose body was found down a mineshaft in Bonnie Doon in 1995. The link comes following ‘information reports’ recently
uncovered by the Herald Sun, which are said to detail a ‘tip-off ’ implicating Debs that wasn’t followed up on at the time of the initial investigation. The investigation throughout the nineties focused on Denis Tanner, a former detective, due to the mineshaft being located near his family property. His alleged involvement
in the death of his sister-inlaw at the same property 10 years earlier also fuelled speculation of his involvement with Bailey, who he’d arrested on the job in St Kilda 17 years earlier in 1978. Ms Bailey was reported missing several months later. No charges were ever laid against Mr Tanner in either case during the

It’s reported that an anonymous friend of Ms Bailey’s dubbed ‘Marion King’ called police twice in the time after her friend’s body was found. Police files reportedly state that Ms King said Ms Bailey may have been involved with a person called ‘Joe’. She later told police after seeing his picture in

decades that followed. Now Debs, an armed robber and serial killer who murdered Sgt Gary Silk and Snr Const Rodney Miller in 1998, and was subsequently convicted of murdering Donna Hicks in 1995 and Kristy Harty in 1997, has been linked to the murder of Ms Bailey. All three women were sex workers.
