Know your local 2017 TEAMWORK: Kylie and Andy Coatsworth believe in connecting with the community in both the personal and professional aspects of their lives. PHOTO: Kylie Wilson

Committed to community FOR Wangaratta businesspeople Andy and Kylie Coatsworth, giving back to the community is a high priority. Married for 22 years, the pair have been owners of A1 Tyrepower for the past 10 years. But they have been part of the Wangaratta and North East communities for most of their lives – living, working, and raising a family here. Kylie has lived in the area all her life, except for three years while studying at university in Melbourne but travelled home each weekend to continue her part-time job in the grocery department of the Co-Store. Andy emigrated to the area

from England with his family at the age of two and has enjoyed living in the area since. They both love to tackle life as a team, and thoroughly enjoy living and working together. “Whatever we’ve done, we’ve done it together,” Andy said. “We roll our sleeves up and have a go.” The pair see the quick mobilisation of the community to help others, such as the outpouring of support for the family affected by the tragedy on Anzac Day, as one of the many reasons they love living in Wangaratta. “Witnessing such wonderful community spirit, with members

of all parts of the community coming together to support a local family in need makes you really proud to be part of such a caring and compassionate community,” Kylie said. While Kylie has a big hand in running the business and loves working alongside Andy and their team, she also enjoys putting her “teacher hat” back on to do some relief teaching when it fits in with her Tyrepower duties, volunteers her time running weekly Yoga and Mindfulness sessions and helps out with the Community Playgroup at Wangaratta West Primary School. Over the years, the couple

have raised four children together – Taylah and Ebony, who are both currently undergoing university studies; Harrison, who is currently undertaking a school based traineeship which sees him working two days a week at A1 Tyrepower; and Madeleine, currently in year eight. “We have always been community minded,” Kylie said. “You can’t expect to be counted as part of the community if you’re not putting back into the community,” Andy added.
