Ag show postponed By GUS RIDDER A HEAVY downfall of rain has resulted in significant flooding across much of the state, with towns within the Strathbogie Shire particularly impacted. There was 109mm of rain in Euroa over Thursday and Friday last week, causing massive floods, power outages and issues for the town. Major flood warnings were sent out by VicEmergency on Friday

morning, with the water level at the Seven Creeks in Euroa peaking at 5.60 metres around 2:30 am, just below the level of 5.67 metres recorded during floods in October 1993. The surrounding park was considerably flooded, with the walking bridge entirely underwater. Surrounding homes and businesses were also impacted. Sandbags were deployed in front of homes and businesses; however it was clear that the floods still

caused significant damage around the town. Thursday’s power outage lasted from 3pm until at least 10pm for some areas, with the entire town impacted. Businesses had to close and traffic lights were disabled, as much of the town switched to candles and stayed indoors. Public transport was at a standstill, with V/Line services along the Albury Line cancelled until Sunday afternoon.

Roads to Shepparton, which is still battling serious flooding and was called to evacuate, were closed entirely resulting in massive detours for drivers heading that way. Schools sent children home early, particularly those who rely on the school bus service. Euroa SES unit controller Georgie Cardillo thanked the community for their efforts during the flooding. ■ Continued page 2

Supporting the Regional communities that we live & work in is part of life at Nutrien Ag Solutions A customer recently made us aware of the work being done by the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust to create a best-in-class cancer treatment facility. Regional people deserve the very best in treatment and care, just like people in capital cities. Everyone in our community knows someone affected by cancer, so let’s come together to support this vital local service. The key fundraiser they run is the Sunshine Walk on Sunday 6 November 2022. We are excited to announce that Lynne Ruscoe from Nutrien Ag Solutions Euroa will be stepping out of her comfort zone to participate in the Sunshine Walk along with Lynne’s son Mali his wife Di & children to raise funds to support families touched by cancer and raise awareness of this worthy cause. If you would like to join Lynne in the walk or donate a little or a lot to support her, please contact Lynne for details or use the QR code, or link below to directly support Lynne’s Sunshine Walk fundraiser.
