Pressing needs MEMBER for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland has addressed Victoria’s Legislative Assembly for the first time, discussing her background, family and the pressing needs for the region in a 10 minute speech to parliament.

Ms Cleeland spoke about the pride she felt being able to represent the electorate as the second member for the region, following on from the work of previous member and Nationals representative Steph Ryan.

“The land of the Euroa electorate spans more than

11,500 square kilometres of rivers and ranges that a community of 55,000 regional Victorians call home.

“Our electorate is a place of ancient and modern significance, from Aboriginal rock art, scar trees and cutting stones to colonial and goldmining histories of the towns of Kilmore, Murchison and Rushworth and from the military training camp of

Puckapunyal to the creative art haven of Benalla.

“It is also home to agriculture, family-run enterprises and global industry innovators, from croppers in Colbinabbin to fruit and dairy farmers in the Goulburn Valley to livestock and thoroughbred breeders throughout our entire electorate.”

The majority of Ms Cleeland’s speech outlined the most pressing needs

for the electorate, and regional Victoria in general, with issues such as healthcare, infrastructure and education stressed as major areas that require additional government support.

“I am standing here today because I love our region, our community and the people who call it home. These people are my people,” she said.

Lovell continues quest to sack cemetery board THE Liberal Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell has continued her push for the Board of Directors of Remembrance Parks Central Victoria Cemetery Trust (RPCV) to be removed and replaced with an administrator until a new board can be appointed.

Speaking during the adjournment debate to the Minister for Health MaryAnne Thomas in State Parliament, Ms Lovell spoke of the failure in governance displayed by the current board amid heartless management practices and called on the minister to exercise powers in the Cemeteries & Crematoria Act 2003 to remove the directors immediately.

“Section 10 of the Cemeteries & Crematoria Act allows the Minister to remove the current board and appoint an administrator and I urge her to do so until a more compassionate and suitable board of directors can be appointed,” Ms Lovell said.

The Trust’s decision to remove keepsakes and mementos from gravesites without warning drew considerable attention, both

within the local community and state-wide.

The negative media coverage saw the removal of the Trust’s chief executive officer Emma Flukes.

The removal of the treasured keepsakes came in the wake of RPCV’s controversial proposal in May 2022 to introduce price rises for internment and cremation services, a proposal that was ultimately abandoned following pressure from the Liberal Nationals Coalition and significant negative media coverage of the issue.

Ms Lovell said these two controversial incidents show a pattern of failure in governance by the current board, which had failed to act in accordance with the organisation’s values of Compassion, Community, and Integrity and mission statement to “deliver quality and caring service with compassion.”

“The current Board of RPCV have been heartless in their dealings with families of departed loved ones, failing to show any compassion and empathy to people experiencing unimaginable grief,” Ms Lovell said.

Second person dies following Creightons Creek crash

DISCOVERY AT FIRE SITE: A hydroponic set-up and several cannabis plants were located following a fire at a Collier Road address last week.

A HYDROPONIC set up and a number of cannabis plants were located after emergency services attended a fire at a property on Collier Road in Euroa last week.

The fire completely destroyed a shed and areas of a paddock, resulting in a significant CFA effort to stop the spread from reaching other nearby

properties.

One resident had the grassfire reach up to the edge of his home, luckily not causing any significant damage beyond the outside area.

Several brigades from Euroa and district were present at the scene as quickly as possible, with several tankers and helicopters being required.

Despite severe weather conditions at the time, including strong winds and rain, the fire was contained thanks to the work of local emergency services.

No arrests have been made at this stage and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A SECOND person has died in hospital following a car crash in Creightons Creek on January 20.

It is believed a vehicle was travelling along the Hume Freeway near Avenel-Longwood Road and veered off the road before crashing into a tree.

The front passenger, a 66 year old Benalla woman, died at the scene.

The driver, an 82 year old Benalla man, was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he died on February 8.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Violet Town memorial wins national art award

By GUS RIDDER THE people of Violet Town are quietly celebrating after being awarded a national art award last week.

The Southern Aurora Memorial received the Gold Award for the Best Monument or Memorial at the 2022 Australian Street Art Awards, announced from Queensland’s Sunshine Coast on Friday evening.

The moving memorial which includes pieces by Tim Bowtell, Lachlan Cumming and Chris Mann nudged out the Wandoan Soldier Settlers Precinct and its artworks in the Western Downs of Queensland, which took the Silver Award, and Bronze winner ‘Neighbour’, a mural by Jesse Bell in Katherine which memorialises Ayaiga, an Alawa man from Hodgson Downs who was the first Indigenous Australian to be awarded the prestigious British Empire’s King Albert Medal.

Awards director Liz Rivers was full of praise for the memorial.

“This unique memorial contributes significantly to making Australia a more vibrant, creative and interesting country - somewhere visitors want to explore more keenly,” she said.

“Smart communities promote their outdoor art, including monuments and memorials, as a unique landmark - an attraction that visitors can see in only one place, and that makes their destination immediately identifiable, highly attractive and a drawcard for art-loving tourists.”

In commenting on Southern Aurora Memorial Violet Town’s win, the judges congratulated everyone involved in keeping the memory and history of the Southern Aurora train rescue alive through the development of these Memorial Gardens.

The Southern Aurora Memorial project commenced in 2018 after many chats between Gary Abley and Bruce Cumming about the need to better remember the Southern Aurora Disaster of February 1969 and the significant impact it had on many people, while clearly acknowledging the amazing voluntary efforts at the time.

A call for design ideas, committee members and volunteers generated much momentum.

The resulting overall concept was to hold a 50th anniversary event in 2019, and create a well-designed memorial garden space on a large piece of unused railway land in Cowslip Street.

“The garden space has been carefully designed and built as a calm and reflective space pro-

viding both artistic interpretations and factual information,” Southern Aurora project historian Bruce Cumming said.

“The committee wanted to create a space to help survivors, volunteers, the public, railway people, emergency services and their families to reflect and learn about a national tragedy which was at risk of fading from public consciousness.

“It has been heart-warming to meet visitors to the garden from all over Australia, and to read entries in our Facebook page and our visitors book.

“It’s very gratifying to see the good that has been achieved by our combination of art, design and story-telling: never underestimate the value of art to touch hearts and minds.”

Pam Robinson AM, a strong project supporter and past Shire President of Violet Town and Warrenbayne Farmer, was thrilled to hear about the Award while attending an international conference in Canada.

“I want to pass on my congratulations to the committee and Violettonians for using the arts to create a wonderful space of reflection, remembrance and respect of peoples response to a huge tragedy,” she said.

“I feel very honoured that the Southern Aurora Memorial Committee has been awarded the top prize for Street Art in the category of Memorials and Monuments,” Gary Abley, chair of Southern Aurora Memorial committee said.

“We were excited when we were announced as finalists in January in the Australian Street Art Awards, so to take out a top gong really is icing on the cake.

“I really want to pay tribute to all the creative people, those who helped guide us through their art and design especially Tim Bowtell, Lach Cumming and Chris Mann.

“I want to thank our small but dedicated Southern Aurora committee for their voluntary efforts.”

“Like many communities, we are also experiencing year-long waitlists for childcare that leave regional families who rely on two incomes to survive - which is most of them - with no options.

“As an urgent priority we must improve regional health care.

“Our hospitals are underfunded, ambulance response times are appalling and the barriers to accessing mental health services are extreme.

“These barriers, the high costs and long waitlists are disproportionately impacting the most vulnerable in our communities.

“Our community-owned hospital, Euroa Health, has begged the government for support and been ignored by minister after minister.

“Their closure would leave a gaping hole in local health care.”

Ms Cleeland closed her speech by making a series of acknowledgments, thanking her family, her team and “predecessor, mentor and friend Steph Ryan.”

“Finally, to the people of the Euroa electorate and to my community, thank you for your trust in me and your support,” Ms Cleeland said.

“It is an honour to work to protect, defend and celebrate you and the place we all call home.

“To you I pledge my hands to help those in need and to strengthen what is already strong, I pledge my ears to listen with compassion, I pledge my eyes to look forward with hope, I pledge my heart to share in your joys and challenges and I pledge my voice so that you may always be heard with power and determination in this place of influence.”

We’re super excited to have opened applications to our community panel, which will provide input into Council’s important plans, projects and strategies.

ARTC calling for feedback on proposed Anderson St underpass

The Share Strathbogie Community Panel is being established to continue Council’s goal to deliver best practice community engagement. Membership will not be capped – meaning everyone who puts up their hand will join – with at least half the panel being renewed every two years.

A draft proposal for an underpass design at the Anderson Street rail crossing in Euroa has been released for comment by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC).

Most importantly – participation is up to you. You can do as much or as little as you like and you can participate any way you like (online, face-to-face etc)

ARTC are calling on Strathbogie Shire, and in particular Euroa, residents to give their feedback throughout February and Council is encouraging the community to take this opportunity to have its say on the crossing, which is being upgraded as a result of the Inland Rail Project.

SENIORS GATHER: Longwood’s senior citizens group joined together for the first time in 2023.

Longwood seniors set for big year THE Longwood Senior Citizens Group recently held their first luncheon of the year, with 50 in attendance.

Luncheons will be held on the first Monday of each month with a two-course meal provided on the day for members.

The club will welcome any new members as it looks forward to seeing new faces.

This season is shaping up to be excellent with the trips and functions now organised.

The first trip for the seniors will be a bus trip to Hanging Rock in March.

Euroa Garden Club back for 2023 THE Euroa Garden Club resumes its monthly meetings on Friday, with the first session of the year being held in the showgrounds pavilion at 1.30pm.

The guest speaker for this meeting will be Rodney Clarke.

Rodney is the president of the Shepparton Dahlia Club and has a commercial garden where he grows dahlias, chrysanthemums and many

other plants.

Rodney will bring some of his plants for sale at this meeting.

Afternoon tea will be provided and the usual raffle and competitions will be available.

The garden club is a welcoming, happy group which enjoys a chat and share knowledge and tips about gardening.

New members are very

welcome to attend.

The club organises some day trips to visit gardens and enjoy the company of fellow gardeners.

Violet Town charity raffle praised

By GUS RIDDER THE owner of the Ellen Frances Hotel in Violet Town, Fiona Brown, has received a certificate of appreciation from the town’s local fire brigade for generously donating the proceeds of the pub’s charity raffle to the CFA. The weekly raffle held at the pub has always been popular, with the chance at winning a meat tray incentive for many patrons to get behind the raffle.

Ms Brown pays for and supplies the raffle prizes, with the money raised from ticket purchases then being donated to different community organisations in Violet Town.

To Ms Brown, it is important the money supports some of the integral community groups and organisations within Violet Town.

“I chop and change every month and will just pick a place in town,” Ms Brown said.

“We’ve just finished with the Violet Town playgroup and before that we’d worked with the Men’s Shed.

“The local school will be next, we’re hoping it will get them an oven so they can do lunches at the school.

“It’s working the way I would like it to; the money gets to stay in the town.”

Violet Town Fire Brigade captain Jeff Jennings presented a framed certificate

to Ms Brown at the pub last week thanking her for the kind donation.

The Violet Town Fire Brigade was the most recent recipient of the prize money, receiving over $900.

“What better time of the year to support the CFA, we’re going to need these guys,” Ms Brown said.

“I know if I ever needed them, they’d be the first ones here to help.

“At the end of the day, it’s how I see being part of a town and part of the community.”

Despite only being a resident of Violet Town for a short time, Ms Brown said she has felt extremely welcome since arriving in 2022.

“It takes a long time to become a local,” Ms Brown said.

“12 months is coming up fast, I settled on the pub in March 2022.

“My experience here has been extremely good.

“The town has been really welcoming and I’ve received a lot of support.”

SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY: The Violet Town Fire Brigade captain Jeff Jennings presented a certificate of appreciation to Ellen Frances Hotel owner Fiona Brown for the contributions she made to the brigade through weekly raffles.

EUROA, YOUR PARTICIPATION MATTERS Thank you to everyone who has made time to provide feedback on the proposed vehicle underpass to replace Anderson Street bridge in Euroa.

We have clearly heard a vehicle underpass is the community’s preferred option to allow clearance for double-stacked freight trains as part of the Inland Rail project.

Now that we have progressed the design of the underpass, we have a better understanding of what would be required. We have updated the visualisation to show the road safety and flood mitigation measures including fencing, a rise to road levels, raised earth mounds and pumps and stormwater basins.

Join us at the Euroa Farmer’s Market on Saturday 18 February where we will be sharing these findings with the community and we can take you through the visualisation in more detail.

The chance is now to stage a ‘no event’ THANK you for the report on last weekend’s “Yes Picnic” in this week’s Gazette.

The only criticism I’ve heard of the event is that it wasn’t ‘balanced’ because it didn’t

address the reasons to vote “No” in a Voice referendum.

But isn’t asking potential “Yes” supporters (private individuals, not any government agency) to organise and host a “No” event just like asking a Euroa supporter to sing the praises of and barrack for Seymour in a local footy match?

Surely now is the time for those planning on voting “No” to start organising and hosting similar events?

Underpass proposal has locals talking EUROA residents are coming forward in strong numbers to have their say in the latest round of consultation on the proposed underpass to replace the Anderson Street Bridge.

The community has kept Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) staff busy over the last week with many visiting the Binney St shopfront, calling the hotline, emailing, viewing online material and signing up to focus groups.

In the three open days last week, more than 85 locals dropped into the ARTC shopfront and 30 have registered for the upcoming focus groups.

The ARTC has also conducted seven meetings with key stakeholder groups.

The updated underpass visualisation has also had over 750 YouTube views.

Helping North East Victoria stay cyber secure MARKING the 20th annual Safer Internet Day happening last week, Optus announced an expansion to its Digital Thumbprint Program to provide more opportunities for students in North East Victoria to learn about digital safety and wellbeing.

North East Victoria primary school students in years three and four can now be among the first to experience the expanded digital educational program, focusing on kids staying safe when on games and apps, and keeping information private online.

Year five and six students will be able to access a program tailored to deal with cyberbullying and have respectful online relationships.

In light of Safer Internet Day, Australia’s eSafety Commissioner is encouraging all Australians to connect safely and with purpose, reflect before they act, and protect themselves and others by taking action online.

Optus customer success managing director Maurice McCarthy spoke about the opportunity for young people to experience the program.

“Optus is committed to ensuring a safer future for all Australians online by providing support to young people, families and seniors,” he said.

The expansion of the Optus Digital Thumbprint offers a variety of resources for parents, teachers, and trusted adults to facilitate conversations with kids.

A schoolteacher who participated in the program in 2022 said “the resources align with eSafety and current curriculum.”

“They provide a fresh approach to online safety for primary and secondary students.”

Primary school teachers interested in participating in the expanded Optus Digital Thumbprint program can register their classroom for free online and gain access to quizzes, teaching resources, and interactive games.

Tai Chi will be restarting at St Paul’s hall on Thursday, February 16 at 9.30am.

The Euroa Line Dancers have also restarted for 2023, with classes running from 9.30am12pm on Monday and Tuesday at St Paul’s hall.

Men’s Shed gives back to the Euroa community

By GUS RIDDER THE Euroa Men’s Shed has begun a series of woodworking classes for interested members of the community as a way of giving something back to a town that supports them.

The six week course begun in January and currently has two classes of eight people meeting every week to learn the trade and build something to take home.

The Men’s Shed was particularly interested in hosting something that would appeal to local residents in Euroa and provide them with a fun, educational experience.

“We decided to give something back to the community,” Men’s Shed secretary Stuart Marshall said.

“We put an ad up on Facebook asking if people would be interested in some woodworking classes and we were immediately swamped with responses.

“It’s turned out to be really successful and now we’re under pressure to run another class, probably an advanced one.

“It’s been a good trial run to have these sessions and gauge the interest of the community.”

The sessions combine both practical woodworking experience and theory, which includes watching videos that explain some of the techniques and tools they will be using in the class.

“At the end of the sessions, you get to keep everything you’ve made.

“We’re working on a toolbox first then will make a flower basket.

“At the end of each session I’ll send them a link to a video

showing all the things they’ve done.”

Mr Marshall said there have been promising signs for the two groups, which are both largely made up of women.

“They really seem to be enjoying it and getting a lot out of it,” he said.

“Of the 16 people, there are 12 girls in the sessions which was a bit of a surprise but it’s been really great.”

The classes are already underway, however there are hopes for more sessions to be announced for those that missed out on the first round.

Come down to the farmers market ROUTINE is back as we enjoy regular events daily, weekly or monthly like the Euroa Farmers Market to be held this Saturday, February 18 from 9am to 1pm in Rotary Park and along Kirkland Ave. The area will be filled with about 40 stalls providing you with fresh local produce, unique craft, plants and yummy food ready to eat or take away.

Live music will be back on stage the stage of the band hall and the band this month is the ‘Yaks’ a group of enthusiastic musicians who love to play music together.

You will hear some cool familiar tunes.

The Community BBQ will be in the middle of the park surrounded by table and chairs in the shade.

Stay a while.

ARTC will be there to answer lots of questions and to gather comments.

New cultural experience launched Haines continues THE Taungurung Land and Waters Council (TLaWC) has launched its new cultural experiences business ‘wawa biik’ meaning ‘hello country’ - a name with the dual purpose of honouring the deep importance of country to all Taungurung People, while warmly welcoming the wider community to visit country and deepen their relationship with Taungurung culture.

Taungurung Elders and youth are leading immersive cultural experiences, sharing their stories and perspectives in a way that celebrates and regenerates their living culture.

Wawa biik cultural experiences take place in significant locations across Taungurung Country, Central Victoria, including the waterways of Tahbilk Wetlands in Nagambie and the Euroa Arboretum - a pocket of rehabilitated native bush in Euroa.

As well as acknowledging Taungurung history and cultural heritage, experiences provide visitors with quality time to yarn with members of the Taungurung community to understand living culture.

Visitors will gain insight into the Taungurung-led cultural revitalisation and cultural land management projects shaping the positive future of the Taungurung Nation.

Uncle Shane Monk - a proud Taungurung man, Elder and cultural tour guide - says wawa biik will enable everyone to see and feel that culture is alive and always has been.

“We want people to realise that we continue to have that connection with country, we’re still practicing our traditional rights on country and making our scar trees and tools,” he said.

“We are living and protecting that continuous connection every day.”

Engaging the public in cultural experiences provides everyone with the opportunity to understand the purposeful journey Taungurung People are on to strengthen their cultural identity and repatriate their ways of caring for country.

Visitors will form a deeper relationship with Taungurung Custodians, learn about the biocultural values of country and receive the cultural education that many missed out on at school.

INDEPENDENT Federal Member for Indi Helen Haines has continued her call for the Government to legislate an independent whistleblower protection commission.

In a submission made to the Senate Inquiry into the Public Interest Disclosure Amendment (Review) Bill 2022 (PID Review Bill), Dr Haines said whistleblower laws were complex, and a commission is critical to support whistleblowers who are navigating the legal system.

“Where once Australia’s whistleblower protection laws set the international standard, they have since become limited, out of date and inconsistent,” Dr Haines said.

“The introduction of this Bill by the Government is a positive step, following the establishment of the NACC. But there is still so much more to do.

“The PID Review Bill helps strengthen whistleblower protections, including by providing officers with discretion to refer matters to the NACC and expanding the definition of ‘detriment’ so that remedies will be available for the full impact of whistleblowing, such as reputational damage.

“However, these initial reforms are nowhere near sufficient on their own.

“A number of reforms are still necessary, such as forming a whistleblower protection commission, to ensure whistleblower protection laws offer best practice protections that are at the highest international standard.”

An independent whistleblower protection commission was a key pillar of Dr Haines’ 2020 Australian Federal Integrity Commission Bill and was supported by the Advisory Report for the Joint Select Committee examining the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) Bill.

Other key reforms are set out in the Protecting Australia’s Whistleblowers: The Federal Roadmap, which was co-launched on November 23, 2022 by Dr Haines, Griffith University’s Centre for Governance and Public Policy, the Human Rights Law Centre and Transparency International Australia.

EXPORTS RISING: Food and fibre exports from Victoria have reached a record high, with grain, meat and dairy all rising in the last year.

Food and fibre exports hit record $17.9 billion high VICTORIA’S food and fibre exports have reached a record high, valued at $17.9 billion in 2021-22 - a 29 per cent increase on the previous year.

Agriculture Victoria released Victoria’s 2021-22 Food and Fibre Export Performance results showcasing the strength of the state’s exports at the end of last month.

The results cement Victoria’s position as Australia’s largest food and fibre exporter by value, accounting for 26 per cent of the national total.

A Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) spokesperson said these results are a testament to the resilience and agility of our producers, manufacturers and exporters, and highlights the strong global demand for our produce.

“Our state remains on track to meet or exceed the Victorian Government’s target of increasing the state’s food and fibre exports to

$20 billion by 2030,” the spokesperson said.

“We can see strong export growth across a range of industries and markets, with 10 out of 12 commodity groups registering impressive growth in export value.”

Key strengths of the Victorian food and fibre export sector include the diversity and premium quality of its commodities and food products.

Grain had another impressive year of growth, up 73 per cent to $4.4 billion, making it Victoria’s most significant food and fibre export commodity, accounting for 25 per cent of Victoria’s total food and fibre exports.

Meat was Victoria’s second largest export by value at $4.3 billion, up 31 per cent, while dairy exports recorded their highest value ever of $2.5 billion in 2021-22, up 23 per cent.

China remained the most valuable export mar-

ket for Victorian food and fibre exports, with exports reaching $4.4 billion, up 21 per cent from the previous year.

Out of Victoria’s top five export markets, the United States and Indonesia experienced the largest growth in export value, both up 37 per cent on the previous year.

A Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) spokesperson was also encouraged by these results.

“Our exporters continue to grow and reach new markets, enhancing our reputation as a producer of high-quality products on the world stage,” they said.

“Once again, Victoria’s farmers and food manufacturers have demonstrated their ability to deliver high quality, globally competitive food and fibre exports to the world.”

VICTORIAN farmers will continue to have access to valuable skills training, after the extension of the Farm Business Resilience Program.

The program aims to support Victorian farm businesses by providing new and experienced farmers with the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills to better plan for the future and adapt to a changing climate.

Agriculture Victoria project leader Kit DuncanJones said while Victorian farmers successfully manage uncertainty and complexity every day, the business of farming is becoming more challenging as farmers face significant risks, such as future droughts, natural disasters and other industry challenges.

“The program supports farmers striving to better manage their business and strengthen their farm’s ability to withstand future shocks,” he said.

“If you’re a farmer who wants to put your plans on paper and commit your time to strengthen your knowledge and skills, this program will assist you to set up your farm for success, now and into the future.”

The program is being delivered online and faceto-face until June 2024.

It includes short courses, workshops, webinars, field day sessions and farm walks to suit the varying needs of the farming community.

PREPARE YOUR FARM: Agriculture Victoria has extended the Farm Business Resilience Program to provide extra information and assistance to farmers across the state.

The Farm Business Resilience program provides farmers with the opportunity to develop a plan for their farm business. Participants will improve their skills and knowledge to better prepare for and manage risk, adapt change and strengthen their farm business’ resilience.

The pilot program is targeted for Victorian livestock, grain and mixed farmers as well as all young farmers.

Parliament must return to regions: Cleeland ACCORDING to Annabelle Cleeland and The Nationals, the Andrews Labor Government has ignored calls to take Parliament to the regions despite several requests.

This marks the first time in close to a decade Parliament has not been held in regional Victoria, with Ms Cleeland saying this will deprive communities of the opportunity to have their concerns heard and issues addressed.

Holding regular sittings across Victoria gives regional communities the opportunity to see Parliament in action and highlight issues affecting their community, Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland said.

“It’s a worrying sign of the lack of care and attention this government will offer regional Victoria,” Ms Cleeland said.

“Our electorate deserves to have their voices heard yet there hasn’t been a regional sitting for both the upper and lower house since 2014, when The Nationals were in government.

“It would also give Labor members the chance to witness our state’s crumbling roads firsthand, the stress of growing household bills and the impact of the health crisis that grips our regional communities.

If you were in a lifeboat and people were physically drowning, you’d forget all else, to pull people to safety too. In the same way, the Christian imperative and high calling is to save people spiritually by guiding them to the Lord.

But Jesus implores us to heed His promise, “I have a kind of nourishment you know nothing about.” (John 4:32) for it is the will of my Father who sent Me.” Believing is a matter of being willing to listen with a soft, open heart and mind to what Jesus came to do. “(Matt.13:16) Rejecting Him in this life, (Matt.13:15) will you reject the next?

“He is in none of their thoughts.” (Psalm 10:4) Remember; no-one can earn Salvation; it was purchased by Christs’ death alone: it’s for us, just to receive it. Heaven isn’t filled with good people but repentant believing people, who’ve asked Jesus into their lives.

Recognising 20 years of dedication

By DIANE GRANT HOW can you place a value on 20 years of devoted volunteer work, some of it seven days a week?

You cannot really.

But one person who has filled that role for over two decades is Nagambie’s Maureen “Moz” Fowler at the Nagambie Healthcare (NHC) facility on Church Street.

Maureen Fowler’s biggest contribution has been with the elderly there.

When Maureen’s mother Mary Heaphy went into the Nagambie Healthcare (NHC) hostel many years ago, “Moz” began her role there, working with the activities and lifestyle staff and supporting those who needed comfort and love, and becoming a special member of the caring team of volunteers and staff for the past 20 years.

In 2013, Maureen Fowler was nominated for the State Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) Volunteer of the Year award and she and NHC were notified that she had won this state wide prestigious award.

ACSA is a federation with four state associations that provide direct support, advocacy and training for members.

WELL DONE MOZ: Volunteer Maureen Fowler was recently honoured by the Nagambie Healthcare Board with a Life Governor Award.

Facilities, home care and nursing services, retirement villages, independent living units and senior’s housing.

Nagambie healthcare staff in 2013 organised a celebratory morning tea at which Maureen could be presented with her award in front of the elderly residents and staff she worked alongside then.

For the past ten years Maureen Fowler has continued her volunteer work and has seen

many changes in the Nagambie nursing and hospital facility, the buildings, the staff, residents and their families.

Maureen is well known not only by members of the NCH Board staff and volunteers, but the hundreds of residents and their families over the years and the visiting transitional service folk that attend the facility regularly.

Her compassion, devotion and caring nature have helped

so many people in all walks of life who have passed through those NHC doors.

On November 24, 2022, at the Annual General Meeting of the Nagambie Healthcare Board President John Palmer presented Maureen Fowler with a Life Governor, plaque thanking her for her outstanding 20 years of volunteer service to the Nagambie Healthcare which serves the community.

The Gazette caught up with Maureen “Moz” Fowler on Friday, February 10 to discuss the recognition she had received.

“I am thrilled to receive this Life Governor award in recognition of the time and efforts I have given to so many over the years and I thank everyone for their support,” she said.

“I like to give help where it is needed in the wards, on bedside vigils, hostel, kitchen and resident’s meals, if needed escort for patient transport, help with social activities, and organised trips.

“In fact I love coming to work here every day.

“Luckily I have a very supportive husband Keith, and he is happy if I am happy with what I am doing each day.”

Congratulations Maureen Fowler from not only your NHC community for all your years of devoted service but from the wider community.

SAILING GROUP REFORMED: The Nagambie Lakes Community House has supported the Sailing Group to re-form the Nagambie Lakes Sailing Club Inc. by providing a meeting space to House members and a ‘steering committee’ has been formed.

The newly re-formed Nagambie Club is affiliated with the Australian Sailing association and follows its safety, event, training, and insurance rules.

GoNagambie, the Bendigo Bank and other sponsors have helped re-establish the group and the Strathbogie Shire Council has provided a community grant to help the club re-establish the sailing boat shed club house at the Regatta Centre in Loddings Lane, Lake Nagambie.

Project grants in Nicholls, Indi on offer

By GUS RIDDER FEDERAL Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell and Federal Member for Indi Helen Haines have called on community organisations and local governments to submit Expressions Of Interest for round eight of the Stronger Communities Program.

Grants of up to $20,000 are available to go towards small capital projects that deliver social benefits for local communities across the Nicholls and Indi electorates.

Mr Birrell urged groups to submit their Expressions Of Interest applications which support infrastructure and equipment projects that would benefit the wider community.

“The Stronger Communities program is a fantastic opportunity to help get grass roots community projects off the ground, as well as much needed upgrades,” Mr Birrell said.

“A wide variety of groups have benefited from previous rounds of this program which includes Tongala Development Group, Kyabram Youth Club and Rushworth Cricket Club.”

Dr Haines has also encouraged eligible community organisations and local governments to come forward with great ideas that would encourage and support participation in local projects and contribute to vibrant and viable communities.

“There is $150,000 of grants available in Indi and I am so

“Projects funded in Indi in the last round of the Stronger Communities Programme include an upgrade of the kitchen at the Mitta Valley Bowling Club, new picnic tables and benches along the Kiewa River in Mount Beauty and community gardens in

Euroa and Flowerdale.”

Up to 20 projects will be chosen to share in $150,000 which has been allocated to each electorate.

Mr Birrell said this newest round aims to support communities to recover from the impacts of recent weather events and current economic pressures.

“Investment in our region is needed more than ever to help our towns bounce back

from recent flooding as well as drive economic growth during these tough times,” he said.

“These cash injections will allow groups to go ahead with much needed upgrades or buy equipment which will have lasting social benefits to residents for generations to come.”

For this round, grant funding will be up to 100 per cent of eligible project costs except

for local governing bodies (councils, authorities) where grant funding will be up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs.

The minimum grant amount is $2500 while the maximum available is $20,000.

The total cost of a project cannot exceed $50,000 and the project must be completed no later than December 31, 2023.

BOWLS AVENEL BOWLS CLUB MIDWEEK PENNANT - Division three THE long road trip to Shepparton Golf yielded maximum points for Avenel with all rinks recording wins, 16 - 84 to 0 - 52.

Winning 17 ends for the game Fay Hateley, Kate Donovan, Grace Kenworthy, Noel Slater (s) were never challenged and led from the first to the last end for an 18 shot win, 29 - 11.

Ruth Underwood, Rusty Schwab, Spud Furletti, Dennis McGregor (s) also led for the entire game.

Shepparton Golf scored ten over three ends mid game but two fives after the lunch break by Avenel set up a decisive win, 29 - 20 win.

Ross Sinclair, Jenny Furletti, Pam Pedder, Geoff Hateley (s) had a nine shot lead at the lunch break.

Shepparton Golf put Avenel on notice after lunch scoring ten shots in four ends to be one shot up on the 20th end.

A great fightback ensued with Avenel scoring seven shots to one over the remining eight ends for determined win, 26 - 21.

Avenel remain in fifth place on the ladder and play fourth placed Kyabram at home in the next round.

MIDWEEK PENNANT Division five AVENEL hosted Rushworth with the visitors taking full points home with them 14 - 43 to 0 - 52.

Marg Harrison, George Pedler, Marion Gittus, Graham Lewis (s) were behind when they won the 13th end with a six to be one ahead but Rushworth answered back with six shots over the next three ends.

The scores were even on the second last end, however Rushworth won the last end and the game by two shots 21 - 19.

Robyn Hyland, Ron Harrison, Charlie Kemp, Rob Kemp (s) could not get ahead of a very strong Rushworth rink.

A five on the 17th end helped the cause somewhat but Rushworth answered back with four shots to take the win 22 - 15.

The last home and away game for fourth placed Avenel is away against East Shepparton.

WEEKEND PENNANT Division 7 CELLAR dwellers, Avenel had a memorable win against ladder leaders Rushworth on its home turf.

It was a mighty effort for the hodgepodge team after many bowlers were unavailable to play.

The 12 - 38 to 2 - 35 win was very satisfying taking into consideration Avenel were one bowler short and borrowed a player from Nagambie at the last minute.

Lead, Kyle Pedder bowled with accuracy to set up the head for Ron Harrison, George Pedler and Glen Bell (s).

After being down 1- 8 , Mark Speck (Sub) Mike Dibben, Ross Sinclair, Marion Gittus (s) won ten consecutive ends to be up by eight.

However, Rushworth clawed back to win the next five ends and the match 20 17.

The next match for Avenel is at home against Seymour.

WEEKEND PENNANT Division three A HOME game against Shepparton Golf last Saturday had the visitors successful with a 16 - 107 to 2 - 76 win.

Winning 10 of 14 ends, Norm Billingsley, Rusty Schwab, Spud Furletti, Brett McDonald (s) went into the lunch break 20 - 6 up after a superb first half.

After the break Shepparton Golf won more ends but were restricted to no more than two shot winning ends.

Avenel bought home a brilliant rink win against a quality side 27 - 19.

In a closely contested first half, Fay Hateley, Kate Donovan, Grace Kenworthy, Noel Slater (s) were two up on the 16th end.

Shepparton Golf found top gear to score twelve shots over the next four ends to propel them into the lead.

Avenel couldn’t find their earlier mojo and lost the game by eight shots , 17 - 25.

Pam Pedder, Ruth King, Jenny Furletti, Geoff Hateley had a disastrous start against an opposition team that oozed class.

Down 1 - 22 after eleven ends they won six of the next seven ends to reduce the deficit to nine then seven by the 23rd end.

But Shepparton Golf were not done and scored two

fours on the last two ends for the 34 - 19 win.

Donna Rowley, Howard Geldard, Dennis McGregor, Jake Wall (s) also had a tough day at the office.

Shepparton Golf scored a six on the first end and won the first five ends.

Avenel were unable to chase them down.

A convincing sixteen shot win to the Golfers 29 - 13.

The next game for Avenel is away against Nagambie.

Happy belated 90th birthday wishes to long time member, sponsor and premiership bowler Len Underwood.

Len celebrated his birthday at the Avenel Bowls club last Sunday with thirty family members and friends, many of whom had travelled from interstate for the occasion.

GOLF EUROA GOLF CLUB THE ladies Wednesday event saw some red hot scores carded.

Gail Allen took out division one with a sensational 42 Stableford points.

Not to be outdone, Deb Cox also had 42 points in division two, both ladies recording six shots better than their handicaps which shows how good the course is currently playing.

Michelle Thomson on 40 points and Bev Jungwirth’s score of 39 would usually be good enough to win, but they had to settle for second place.

The men didn’t match the ladies scores, but Frank O’Connor’s 38 points was enough to win.

Ball winners were Jim Garrard and Peter McMahon on 37.

Graeme Carnegie, Brian

Rosenbrock, Kevin Mead and Bill Wright were next best on 36.

Thirty two players took on the Friday twilight event which was won by Richard Eddy with 21 points.

Cam Roper had 20 points from his handicap of just one.

Next Friday is the last round of the pub shoot out top 10 and on Saturday after golf there will be a Calcutta auction of the top 10 players for the final which will be played on the March 3, so organise your syndicates for a chance to share the winnings in what is a fun event for players, spectators and punters alike.

Hot conditions saw most players out early on Saturday for the second round of the Nolan Trophy and the ladies Summer Cup. In the ladies competition Ros Doxey and Dee McMartin both had 40 points which will keep their chances alive for the three round event.

Other good scores were Justine Collins on 36, Melissa Eddy 35 and Robyn Anthony 34.

Dav Mackrell would be happy with his 84-11-70 division one win over Captain Ross Wishart 80-10-70 on countback.

Lachie Robinson took out division two with 97-28-69.

Charlie Walker showed he can still have a good round with net 70 as did Kevin Mead, Dale McIntosh, Tony Walters and Don Bubeck were all under their handicaps with net 71s.

The final round of the Nolan Trophy honour board event will be next Saturday, and all players must be in groups of three or more.

The unofficial leaderboard has club champion Ed Carracher in first spot on

142, Don Bubeck on 143 and then Matt Mills.

Ross Wishart and Lachie Robinson are tied for thirdon 144 and Tony Walters one back in sixth place on 145.

The final round will be a neck and neck battle with only a couple of shots between scratch markers Carracher and Mills, but if any of Don Bubeck, Lachie Robinson or Ross Wishart go a stroke or two below their handicaps they could easily take out this prestigious event.

The club also has its second summer working bee scheduled for February 26 to present the course at its very best for the Autumn Tournament on March 10 to 13.

The junior golf twilight series open to boys and girls 6 to 16 years begins on Monday, February 27 and continues through March.

Sessions run from 4:15pm to 6:15pm and cost just $2.

NAGAMBIE GOLF CLUB THERE were 12 players enjoying a perfect golf day on Wednesday, February 8.

The game was par and the monthly medal was up for grabs.

We only had one grade and the winner of both the monthly medal and the 18 ball competition was Bev Brown with 38 points.

The 9 hole winner was Carol Wallis with 20 points.

Balls down the line for 18 were won by Bev with 38 points, Ronda Richards 37 points, and Carol 33 points on a count back from Moz Fowler.

Balls down the line for nine went to Carol 20 points, Moz 19 points, and Bev 19 points on a count back from Deb Ringin.

Nearest the pins on the 13th went to Annette Mills.

There was no nearest the pins on the third.

There were 23 players for a game of stroke on February 9.

The winner in great form was Carol Wallis (16) with 34 net and the runner-up was Shaun Bryant (5) with 34 net.

There were no nearest the pins placings.

The Nagambie Golf Club par specialist Terry Lowis did it again with a +4 result to win this weekend’s competition.

Par is an event that requires steadiness, patience and consistency which most are unable to achieve, but Lowis seems to have the measure of the course and his opponents in par events.

Runner up was Des Phelan playing quality shots throughout the round to finish +3 and Alby Seenan coming in third also on +3 missing out by one.

The nearest the pins went to dead eye with Alby Seenan firing it close on both the third and the eighth, Des Phelan stroking one up to the 13th and Shaun Spicer getting it right to land on the 16th.

The Nagambie summer

pennant team played their last round of the season at home.

A disappointing loss was recorded 2&3, meaning the team who were top of the ladder can now not advance to the final, A bye is scheduled for next week and not enough points have been amassed to go through.

Next Sunday on the Nagambie course will be the Gary Bow foursomes for both men and women with great prizes for both.

STRATHBOGIE GOLF CLUB STOKE was played on Saturday, February 4 at Strathbogie Golf Club.

A field of thirteen players played on cool afternoon.

There were three ladies and 10 men playing off for our Medalist of Medalist.

The winner of the Monthly Medal was John Moore, who also won in 2022, with a net of 73.

Lineballs were won by Chris Bennett with a net 73, Fran Kearney with a net 73 and Victoria Fry with a net 73.

Nearest the pin winners were Adam Thomson on the eighth (sponsored by Eleanor Barns) and Jim McAlister on the 17th (sponsored

by DPR Insurance).

Ladies drive and pitch was won this week by Victoria Fry on the fourth green (sponsored by Helen Hill).

Men’s drive and pitch was won by John Moore (sponsored by John Moore).

Straightest drive was won

by Victoria Fry. Putting was won by David Kennett with 27 putts.

Stableford was played on Saturday, February 11 at the Strathbogie Golf Club.

We had 16 men and three ladies playing golf.

The winner was Victoria Fry with 42 points.

Line balls were won by Brent Moore with 37, Gayle Raftery with 37 and Kerry Hewlett with 35.

Nearest the pin winner was Shae Van Der Schoor on the 17th (sponsored by DPR Insurance).

Tony Rohrlach top scores at Eurack Medley Champs

ACE: Bede Redfern served strongly during the weekend’s games of tennis.

Tennis semis approach as teams vie for top spots ROUND 13 was the penultimate round and division A leaders St Pauls cemented their position, with Moglonemby running second and Strathbogie edging into third spot at Longwood’s cost.

The third and fourth spots are very tight with four teams vying for them.

Strathbogie, Longwood, Avenel Red and Gooram are all in with a show to play in the semi-finals.

It’s unlikely but mathematically possible for the four Euroa teams to play the semis.

In division B, St Pauls had another large win accelerating them into second spot but will face a crucial match in the last round against fourth placed Benalla Gardens.

The division’s top four teams are guaranteed, but the order they play in the finals is yet to be determined.

Terip hosted Moglonemby in division A with Sue Vaughan and Kristen Davey starting well with an 8-6, whilst Keighan Hicks and Michael Nolan went down in a tie breaker.

Keighan then combined with Dublin Anderson 8-4 and then went on to win his mixed as well with Kristen 8-6.

It was a tight day for Moglonemby in the end only winning by five games.

They will need to lift their game next week to take on St Pauls.

Gooram went to Benalla Lawn with the first tow sets going there way 8-6.

Mark Borthwick and Greg Rowe added to the score with a strong 8-2 whilst Chris Ellis and Kim McCabe dominated their set 8-3.

Josh Higgins and Greg set the team up going into the mixed with an 8-6.

St Pauls are hunting glory this year and kicked off strongly in their match against Longwood with their women comprising of Megan O’Bree, Sarah Ternes and Faye Mollison not dropping a set and Jai Harrington coming in to dominate the men.

Jacob Tarran and Molly Redfern combined well to win a set for Longwood over Declan Weston and Faye Mollison 8-6, but the St Pauls juggernaut kept going with a strong win of eight sets and 39 games.

On the adjacent courts Euroa Lawn played Benalla Gardens.

Never to be underestimated, Row Ellis and her team came to play with Row and Melinda Creevey 8-4 and then Row combin-

ing with Gayle Furphy 8-1.

Caid Miller and Garry Cummins won 8-3.

Melinda Creevey had an undefeated afternoon with Barry Fischer being the best of the men.

Euroa won two of three mixed strongly to finish winners by a higher ranked team 66-39 games.

In division B, Euroa played Goorambat with Kalarni Anderson and Indie Mildren-Nicel, just going down 6-8 whilst John Anderson and Craig Durkin fought hard 4-8.

Indie then went on to combine with Elise Durkin in a great win 8-1.

Indie continued her good afternoon just missing with Craig 5-8 whilst John and Kalarni missed a tie breaker.

Goorambat won by 32 games.

St Pauls fielded a strong team to go to Violet Town and with the dominating Kelly Hill, Rosie Cameron kicked it off 8-0.

Georgia Gall was an inclusion combining with Rosie 8-0 and then combined with Kelly 8-0.

It certainly was a big day for the St Pauls women.

The St Pauls men were faring similar winning all their sets.

The mixed was a similar outcome with poor Violet Town only winning nine games for the afternoon.

Surely this is a winning margin record of 63 games.

Next week is the final round with many great games.

St Pauls play Moglonemby for top spot at home in what should be a thriller.

COMPETITORS were greeted with a strong southerly breeze blasting across the tracks on Euroa Clay Target Club’s Sunday monthly shoot.

With targets flying rather erratically, Tony Rohrlach proved a master of the conditions shooting a very good score of 118/125 to win the medley championship by five points from his nearest rival, Cohuna’s Carl Comensoli on 113/125.

In AA grade, Comensoli beat out Euroa’s Towers who scored 109/125.

A grade was an interesting competition as Quirk from Melbourne (136/150) fell short of Rohrlach’s very impressive score.

The B and C grade sections were interesting with White (111/125) beating out Kirley (134/150), and McDonough (113/125) scoring over Wilson (101/125).

The sweepstake was a tight competition with S Towers, Quirk and McDonough both scoring 30/30.

B grade’s I Towers scored 27/30, rounding out an excellent competition.

The scheduled March Competition on Sunday, March 12 is sponsored by Euroa’s Rob Stackhouse.

Two championships are on offer, a Continental Double Barrel and the historic Side by Side Championship.

This event is restricted to the use of the old style side by side shotguns rather than the modern ones and is strongly competitive by many of the veteran competitors.

Usual practice is on Wednesday afternoons from 1.30 to 3.30pm and the open day to welcome new shooter is on Sunday, March 5 from 11.30am.

WINNER: Tony Rohrlach took out the Eurack Medley Championship and was congratulated by sponsor John King.

By TOMAS FOGARTY Cardamone Real Estate 16A Grade Semi Final NotreDame/St Brendans 1/181 (W Jackson 1/12) defeated Euroa 6/136 (O Wilson 24 n/o, M Walters 17 n/o) ON a sweltering afternoon, Euroa’s under 16 A grade side travelled to Deakin Reserve to play Notre Dame/St Brendan’s in a semifinal, with the winner to take on Old Students in the grand final.

In the lead up to the

match, the team was dealt a selection of blows with four regular players unable to take to the field.

With an already young team, and four U14 players called up, it was going to be a tough assignment against a very experienced opposition.

Captain Walter Jackson went with the ‘tails never fails’ theory at the toss.

Unfortunately, that theory was debunked and Euroa were sent out to field on a belter of a pitch with a lightning-fast outfield.

The mercury didn’t dip be-

low 35 degrees for the entire innings and it was going to be a test of stamina for the team.

The boys started well, bowling tight lines and keeping the enthusiasm up through the oppressive heat.

Wickets were an elusive commodity early but Euroa headed for a well-deserved drinks break with the score at 0-72.

Euroa resumed slightly off their game.

Notre Dame/St Brendan’s took full advantage of this and came out swinging and before Euroa could wrestle

back momentum, they had piled on the runs in a devastating display of big hitting.

To their credit, and as Euroa have done all season, they found their second wind, slowed the scoring and finished off the innings well.

Notre Dame/St Brendan’s score of 1/181 was a daunting task for any team to chase down, but Euroa were still eyeing off the win.

Losing opener Archie Wilson in the first over was a blow, but when the boys found the boundary regularly in the following overs the belief was growing, as were

the cheers from the sideline.

Mitch Walters (17* retired) showed his class with the bat, whilst Walter Jackson and Kusuma Wolfenden occupied the crease, ticking the scoreboard over.

Euroa were batting steadily but needed to escalate the run rate.

Enter Ollie Wilson.

Ollie (24* retired) played an inspiring cameo, taking quick singles and hitting boundaries with ease.

Combining with Ollie Swain (14), the duo were able to get the run rate up to a run a ball and all of a sudden Eu-

roa was a sneaky chance.

However, it wasn’t to be, and in the closing overs things didn’t fall their way, a couple of quick wickets stalled the momentum and Euroa fell short by 45 runs.

Unfortunately, this season’s campaign has come to an end but the team can hold their heads high.

They finished third on the ladder, playing all year in the right spirit, showing great determination and resolve and displaying a real commitment to improving their skills and having fun doing it.

Jubilation on tap with 3 wins

Division two and six played at Euroa while division four played at Shepparton Park.

division has 10 clubs playing, whereas the others have eight.

Division five are in second place on the Ladies Section Championship ladder.

On Sunday last week, the final of Ladies Section of the bowls championship was played between Kerrie Steers and Charmaine Reid.

After a two-hour 27 end marathon, Kerrie prevailed as the winner.

Congratulations to Kerrie and consolation to Charmaine, with both playing good bowls throughout the match.

BUSINESS HOUSE BOWLS WEEK three of the Business House Bowls was completed last week and the Hurlers are still in first place with 24 points.

Moore Builders are next, tied with Bogie Golfers, Lions and Castle Creek on 20 points.

A grade cricketers too good for Tatura

By GUS RIDDER A GRADE CRICKET Round 12 - Euroa 6/165 (N Hill 38, A Squires 25, C Paul 22*) defeated Tatura 10/159 (S Velagala 4/46, R Hill 3/23, S Dadallage 1/13) THE Euroa A grade cricket team prevailed in an important victory over Tatura on Saturday, comfortably chasing a solid score at home.

Tatura batted first and posted a respectable 159 before being bowled out a few overs short of the 45 available.

A decent start for the visitors saw them sitting at 1/45 before a collapse saw them 5/62.

They then fought back with a couple of strong partnerships, reaching 7/153 before losing their final three wickets in a hurry.

Siva Velagala was the main weapon for Euroa, taking 4/46 off his nine overs.

Siva was well-supported by Ryan Hill who took three wickets and cleaned up the tail.

Scott Hamilton was ever-

present in the field with an important three catches.

With 160 needed, Vaughan Kirk and Scott Hamilton set up the innings with a 37 run opening stand before Hamilton was run out for a run-a-ball 21.

After that start, the game was never in danger for Euroa who continued to string together solid partnerships in the top and middle orders.

Nick Hill’s 38 runs batting number three was the top score, with all of Euroa’s top five making over 16 runs and number seven Cohen Paul racing to 22* off 16 balls, including a maximum to win the game.

Euroa will host Waaia next Saturday at the Friendlies, looking to continue the momentum from the win against Tatura.

B GRADE Euroa 10/98 (L Cooke 27, R Jones 17) defeated by Old Students 6/100 (D Redfern 2/1, L Cooke 1/9) EUROA’S B grade side hosted Old Students at the Memorial

Oval on Saturday, with the visitors sending Euroa in to bat after winning the toss.

The decision to bowl seemed to be a smart choice by the visitors, with Euroa only managing 98 runs before being bowled out in the 44th over.

The openers, John Brodie and Declan Redfern, were able to survive the early period of the game but in the end failed to build on that start.

At 2/42, there was a chance for Euroa to build on a solid start but unfortunately, wickets continued to tumble.

Lachie Cooke provided some resistance for Euroa, top scoring with a well-earned 27 runs.

With only 98 runs on the board to defend, it was always going to be tough going for Euroa’s bowlers.

A late fright for the visitors wasn’t enough, eventually chasing down the total in 31 overs.

B grade travel to Kyabram next Saturday for a chance to bounce back after a disappointing result.
