Riled up at Ruffy Report to council declared dangerous trees as ‘low risk’ despite p defects SOME members of the Ruffy community have raised questions over the arborist report released last month that suggested the Longwood-Ruffy Road is a low risk area. The report found that the area remained ‘low risk’ according to the International Society of Arboriculture’s (ISA) Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) method. The ‘Low’ Risk Rating was established due to the low target occupancy of the road. This rating was determined despite the report confirming that many of the trees have significant defects, have the potential to fail towards or onto the road, and would cause serious consequences if the failed part impacted a road user. Ruffy resident Rob Jamieson gave his thoughts on the arborist report and the conclusions outlined in it. “On the surface it’s a pretty good report in comparison to the previous one,” he said. “I don’t have any particular problems with how the report is put together. “My issue is that the road has been deemed as low use. ■ Continued page 3
