Calls for action after region hit by five major outages g since November INCREASINGLY frustrated locals are calling for action to address frequent power outages impacting Strathbogie Shire towns and surrounding districts, including five major unplanned outages since November. Barely a week after an outage on Christmas Eve affected 2185 customers, the region was hit with another major outage on January 2, lasting over 24 hours for some and affecting 2146 customers. Similar major outages occurred on December 13, December 8 and November 8. An AusNet spokeswoman

said additional crews worked on the “very difficult restoration” during the major outage on January 2, which was caused by “significant storm activity in the area, with lightning and branches and trees bringing down powerlines and, in some cases, power poles”. “AusNet would like to apologise to customers in Euroa and surrounds for a number of power outages over the past month,” she said. ■ Continued page 2
