antly difficult choices to make, as Phil’s is all about options, catering to a variety of guest experiences for all different diners. The first floor is a diner-style joint filled with comfy booths, tables and chairs, and a TV for a casual, welcoming vibe. Upstairs you will find the rooftop, a perfect space for enjoying summer views of the town’s strip while sipping refreshments from the bar. In the mood for a classic breakfast (which is served all day), we settled into a table on the first floor and dug into the expansive menu of sweet and savory dishes. Thankful-
ly, our server was patient with me as I tried to decide and recommended a few favorites. I went with the Pulled Pork Benny. This decadent egg dish arrived with scallions sprinkled over a steaming helping of barbecue pulled pork. Sweet yet smoky barbecue sauce was drizzled over the egg and melted cheese. As I dug in, I was happy to discover a jalapeño cheddar cornbread underneath, which added a nice kick of spice. Lightly seasoned home fries on the side are delicious dipped in hot sauce – or for scraping up any leftovers on your plate.

Whether visiting for a hearty brunch or drinks on the rooftop, Phil’s Main Street Grille is the definition of cozy neighborhood diner. It’s a Wakefield staple known for their friendly service, and owner Kenneth Tetzner shares one of their points of pride: all meats and poultry served are smoked or grilled in house.
