FAREWELL TO MR. SCIUTO
Farewell, Mr. Sciuto!
The Providence community said farewell to Mr. Sciuto in many different ways, but perhaps the most fun way was with a special assembly in his honor that culminated in an exciting basketball game. Students spoke fondly about the impact Mr. Sciuto had on their lives and lessons they learned from the Leadership Skills course that he taught. They brought up memories, both poignant and humorous, but the main takeaway was how much Mr. Sciuto meant to the student body and the wisdom he imparted in their lives. Principal Allison DeFrancesco Castro ‘02 and Athletic Director Andrew Bencze ‘89 spoke about their working relationships and friendships with Mr. Sciuto and that although they will miss him, they know he will always be a PHS supporter and look forward to seeing him at PHS functions.

After the speeches, Mr. Sciuto joined members of the faculty and coaching staff in a basketball game versus the students. It was a close game, but the adults secured a victory!

“I will be walking the Camino de Santiago this summer. If you don’t know what that is, it is a 500+ mile pilgrimage from St. Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. I have been dreaming of this journey ever since Joanie [Fenstermaker] showed us the movie, “The Way” many years ago as a part of one of our Faith Formation days.
The journey has been in the planning ever since that fateful day. As many of you also may know, I am nearing the completion of my doctoral journey, and hope to be completed by December of this year. Combined that with the loss of my dear [husband] John three years ago, this is the best way I see to continue my personal healing.”
