dear Providence community,

The spring and summer are filled with new beginnings and regrowth, and that is especially true for our community this year: we graduated the class of 2019, said thank you and goodbye to Mr. Joe Sciuto, and welcomed Mr. Scott McLarty.

The accomplishments of the class of 2019 are remarkable. It was an honor to congratulate each of them at the commencement ceremony in early June. To the graduates, beginning a new chapter in college (and of course, the summer before college which I recall as a great three months), I offered the following advice: associate with positive people, communicate with teachers and peers, cultivate your support system, and find time to relax and decompress.

Mr. Sciuto has a new beginning at Mayfield Junior School. While we will all miss him, I understand why he feels it is the right time to make a change. I am grateful for the many important contributions he has made during his tenure at Providence, and I am sure you will join me in wishing him nothing short of the best in his future role. I am sure we will see him around the PHS campus in the months and years to come, especially to watch basketball games. In March we announced the appointment of Mr. McLarty as Head of School, and after a long wait he started his new beginning in July. In the coming months, Mr. McLarty will be very busy getting to know the unique and special PHS community. One common theme stood out from Mr. McLarty’s references - that he will live and lead the Providence mission. I am certain you will join me in making him feel at home.

Of course, as the school year commences, we all have a new beginning. On behalf of the Board of Regents, I wish everyone in our community a happy and healthy summer and look forward to the 2019-2020 school year.

In Providence,

Stuart Posin Chair, Board of Regents YOU BELONG HERE.
