HydroQual Environmental Engineers and Scientists, P.C. (HQ) created computer simulations on a Red Hook drainage area basis to confirm the efficacy of the proposed design strategies in meeting the goal of maintaining water quality in the Gowanus Canal and East River. Site-level calculations performed by JNE were emulated by HQ in the drainage area-wide model to represent the stormwater management controls appropriately. The engineering work of the three firms mentioned above is integral to the work effort of HQ, as their reported data is used as input to the computer simulations of the local collection system. HQ performed simulations of the sewer system under a variety of development scenarios for the planning years specified in the EIS.
