Head of Finance & Operations Role Description and Person Specification Job title: Head of Finance & Operations Reports to: Co-Executive Directors​ ​ ​ Location: Hybrid (remote with requirement for occasional travel to West London Office) Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 FTE, depending on experience (salary will be pro-rata for part time hours) Hours: 0.6-0.8/24-32 hours per week (flexible working policy) ​ About EarthPercent:​​ ​ ​ ​ ​ EarthPercent is the music industry’s climate and nature foundation. The charity (registered charity number 1188391) was co-founded by Brian Eno and a group of music industry leaders to recognise the Earth as a stakeholder across music. We nurture a climate positive movement in music and raise money to identify and fund action across 5 impact areas: 1.​ Nature preservation and restoration 2.​ Climate justice 3.​ Just energy transition 4.​ Legal and policy change 5.​ Greening the music industry To date, we’ve raised nearly $2 million and distributed funds to 22 organisations, thanks to the support of over 300 artists and industry partners. It’s a strong start—but we know this is a decisive decade for the climate crisis, and we’re focused on scaling our impact. Part of this scaling is fine-tuning some of our internal systems - and that’s where you come in.

Job Description: EarthPercent is growing—and we're looking for a dynamic Head of Finance & Operations to join our small, passionate, and high-performing team. This is a rare opportunity to play a central role in an organisation that’s inspired hundreds of artists to take meaningful action on the climate crisis. As we enter an exciting new phase of growth, we need someone who can help us scale our impact by building smart systems, strengthening our internal operations, and driving financial and organisational efficiency.

This is a pivotal leadership role at a critical moment for EarthPercent. You’ll be responsible for rapidly developing our internal infrastructure, supporting a growing portfolio of revenue and fundraising streams, and ensuring we continue to operate with excellence, transparency, and care—for our mission and for our people.​ ​ Your role will also be responsible for ensuring that we operate within UK legal & regulatory frameworks and stay up to date with changes in relevant legislation. This will sometimes

include an international scope as EarthPercent operates in other territories too. ​ ​ Key Responsibilities Finance & Systems ●​ Day-to-day management of EarthPercent’s financial operations, administration, monitoring and governance, including ensuring the effectiveness of financial controls and the timely provision of management information and analysis ●​ Monitoring and management of cash flow and future cash needs ●​ Provide leadership on all finance related issues, supporting the board and the team, and improving financial literacy across the organisation ●​ Lead the annual budgeting process and cash flow forecasting, working closely with the Treasurer and Co-Executive Directors; support with financial modelling for new projects/programmes and funding bids ●​ Liaison with, supervision and review of external bookkeeping and payroll ●​ Lead the production of annual statutory accounts for the charity and its trading subsidiary and manage the financial audit process and compliance requirements ●​ Track restricted vs. unrestricted funds and ensure proper allocation ●​ Prepare relevant papers for Board and Finance and Risk Committee meetings and attend meetings Operations & Projects ●​ Ensure legal and operational compliance, including data protection, cyber security, insurance, risk assessments, charity compliance and health and safety (with the support of our H&S consultant) ●​ Lead delivery of cross-organisational projects as agreed, notably to scope, select, integrate and manage a new CRM, and ensure our CRM and digital systems remain up-to-date and fit for purpose, including GDPR compliance and data security ●​ Assess financial viability of new projects or fundraising initiatives ●​ Ensure donor reporting (where applicable) requirements are met ●​ Help improve digital processes and ensure we use tools and software (Slack, Google Workspace, etc.) effectively across the team, including platforms/tools to operationalise fundraising (eg Stripe, Just Giving, Crowdfunder etc) ●​ Manage the organisation’s risk register, ensure robust risk management systems, disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place ●​ Help improve collaboration and project management processes that enable a remote, part-time team to work efficiently People & HR ●​ Manage and continuously improve staff systems and organisational culture ●​ Oversee recruitment, contracting and onboarding for permanent staff, freelancers and volunteers ●​ Support staff development, learning, and wellbeing through clear systems and documentation

●​ Work with our external HR support provider to ensure compliance with employment law and liaise with external payroll function ●​ Maintain and update our Staff Handbook, induction guides and internal policies ●​ Ensure all staff are taken through the H&S training and onboarding process

About You Essential: ●​ Qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/AAT) accountant with significant experience in financial/operations management in the charity or music sectors. ●​ Experience of managing IT, risk, data protection and health and safety ●​ Interest in climate and biodiversity issues with a passion for improving the planet for future generations ●​ We use Xero so you will need to have experience on this or capable of quickly becoming literate ●​ High level experience on Excel/Sheets, and CRM systems ●​ Understanding of organisational systems (e.g. HR, IT, legal, ops) in small teams ●​ Highly organised, self-directed, and detail-oriented ●​ Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style ●​ Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with remote staff Desirable: ●​ Understanding of the music industry, particularly how royalties and revenues flow ●​ Experience using project management tools (e.g. Notion, Trello, Airtable) ●​ Familiarity with UK charity governance and reporting requirements We offer a supportive work environment and the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the world.
