THE FRIEND ANIMAL FOUNDATION A SAFE HAVEN FOR ANIMALS

Who are we!

The Friend Animal Foundation is a local animal shelter in Harare. We care for a large variety of domestic animals from sheep and goats to dogs and cats. All our animals are rescues they come from a variety of backgrounds, some not so good as others. We look after them no matter where they came from. We are a shelter for unwanted and abandoned pets or for pets whose owners can no longer afford to look after them. We re-home cats, dogs, puppies and kittens to suitable homes for a reasonable price

Volunteering!

Volunteering is a very rewarding experience. It is a chance for you to give back and help those who cannot help themselves. Helping animals is the most rewarding of all. Volunteering at a local animal shelter is a good way to learn about animals and give back. The Friend Foundation loves having Volunteers, no matter how long you come for, even if it’s only an hour. Our Volunteers do a variety of jobs, depending on their interests. From brushing and playing with the cats to socialising the puppies and walking the dogs. We even have a horse who loves apples and a bush.

Adoption!

Adoption Fees include the cost of the animal’s current vaccination and the cost of having the animal spayed/castrated. In the case of puppies or kittens that are too young to be neutered this is done using a voucher system with Avondale Vet. Spaying/Castration and Vaccination are MANDATORY!!!

Owners can also get a voucher to have their pet micro-chipped if they so choose.

The Friend Foundation rehomes animals to homes that we feel are suitable for them! By this we mean that certain animals require certain conditions for example a dog that is not good with children cannot go to a home with small children. No matter how much the people may wish to adopt that animal!
