SEA PRODUCTS
Thanks to its geography and the extensive waters of the Pacific Ocean, Chile’s seafood industry offers a wide variety of products, including salmon, jack mackerel, mussels and southern hake, among many others.
Chilean fishing and aquaculture are strongly linked to the territories, being a relevant economic engine in the communities, synonymous of development and generator of thousands of jobs at local level.
Chilean salmon, one of the characteristic products on offer, is exported to more than 100 markets. This industry continues to advance in various challenges with a focus on sustainability, safety and food safety.
More than 70% of the salmon companies are certified, with Best Aquaculture Practices, ISO certifications (9001, 14001 and 22000).
The jack mackerel fishery has also achieved sustainable certification under the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) program (the strictest in the world), which recognizes sustainable fishing worldwide.
Another characteristic product of our offer is mussels. Most of the national companies have safety and/or sustainability certifications, as well as HACCP certification, which is essential for exporting to various markets, including Europe.
Chilean seafood products are synonymous with freshness and quality from the southernmost area of the Pacific Ocean to the world.
