BALANCING CROP ECONOMICS WITH YIELD Cereal economics are tight, but it is important to deal with the yield threats in front of us to make the most of crop potential. So says ProCam technical manager for the North of England, Nigel Scott (pictured) – not least because he is witnessing some of the highest winter cereal disease pressures seen in the last 30 years. “Crops very much need managing on an individual field basis,” says Nigel. “Early drilling and the mild, wet winter have created forward winter wheat crops plus high Septoria tritici pressure, even in varieties with reasonable resistance.”
