This compact dual camera solution is connected through 1 RJ45 connection and can utilise 1 IP address for applications where system expansion is limited. The unit is POE compatible as well as providing a separate 24v power connection for local supply, and with two local alarm connections for third party devices it is listed as a great compact solution for any application.

Set up

The two cameras are easily set up as they are both tied to the 1 IP address, this can then be split into separate channels for viewing both cameras on separate input on your local recorder or VMS. Once connected to the camera, through the web browser, you are able to fully customise the camera channels to meet your desired preferences with the user friendly interface on the camera browser.

Each menu will provide you with a different configuration and options, with a simple dropdown menu to switch between camera 1 –PTZ, and camera 2 – Fixed lens. There is also the availability on the web browser of accessing guides and help menus specific to the function you are trying to configure, these are very well detailed and simple to follow, allowing each user to confidently navigate each option and configuration type.

Performance 1. The PTZ

The PTZ element of this camera provides great lowlight performance using Hikvision’s “Powered by” Darkfighter technology, giving you fantastic image quality in lowlight and daylight conditions. The PTZ element is a 2MP lens with 32x zoom capabilities with an additional 16x digital zoom, providing expansive coverage for most small to medium applications. This unit also comes with an inbuilt speaker and active deterrent LED’s which are fully customisable through the web browser, allowing you to set the durations of the alarm, select preset audio warning files and upload a customised audio files if you wish to create a greeting message, change the language or provide a custom warning specific to the application.

The smart detection functions allow you to set up object tracking and detection of Human and Vehicle, as well as a linkage function to the fixed lens camera to generate an alarm and alarm area to start object tracking. The cameras also include HikVision’s exclusive AcuSense technology which allows the for the precise detection and classification of humans and vehicles, reducing false alarms by up to 90%.

2. The fixed lens camera

In the same housing, this unit also includes a 4MP 4mm fixed turret camera that utilises ColourVu technology allowing for high quality colour images even in dark applications without any supplementary lighting. The turret is fitted with 2 LED’s that can provide a supplementary white light as well as being utilised as an active deterrent.

By itself, this camera provides high quality images and works well in high and low light. With the ability to utilise video analytics to raise an alarm using detection areas, line crossing and other in-built analytic functions.

The huge benefit of this unit is being able to utilise both cameras in tandem with the fixed lens providing a generous overview of a scene and being linked to the functioning PTZ at its base. Once calibrated through the web browser, this can create a very effective solution for vehicle and human tracking. Drawing a detection area on the fixed turret camera can start the tracking of the object for a customised period of time before the PTZ will reset to its parked position. One thing to note here is that the object tracking can only do this 1 object at a time, if this is being fitted in a busy area, there be tracking loss – but as this is a tandem view, the fixed lens will still provide recording and images of the overall scene as a redundancy.

PROS: •Relatively simple to set up for basic camera views as each channel is under 1 IP address •The ability to set up camera linkage and triggering between each camera in the 1 web browser • Manual triggering on the alerts and deterrents through the NVR • DarkFighter, ColourVu and AcuSense built in as standard • Auto Defog mode and scene configuration as the environment changes • Analytics and Object detection built-in as standard • Local recording, Edge recording and remote recording available • Audible and Visual deterrents on both the PTZ and Fixed Lens cameras • A very effective compact surveillance solution • 1 cable to serve both the PTZ and Fixed camera

CONS: •Restricted movement on the fixed camera due to it being mounted onto the PTZ housing, this may limit the ability to tilt the fixed lens up and down to suit its environment. Conclusion

Overall, this unit will work perfectly for any small to medium applications providing an easy set-up, user friendly configurations and smart features that can be linked quickly and easily to both cameras. With the use of the DarkFighter and ColourVu technologies, this camera will operate very well in both low and high light environments, and with the use of the AcuSense technology as standard, vehicle and human detection is reliable and effective even in high traffic areas, meaning that alarms generated from this unit are reliable.
