The puzzle piece is a residence for a businessman. This consists of the living area where the family resides and an office area with a lounge for the visitors so they don’t hinder privacy of the family.
The concept was to creaete interlocking spaces, the planning was done in a way to create spaces that fit together to create void and built-up forms. Even the facade elements seem to be different pieces that fit together. Patterns and repetition of elements was used.
The overall residence follows a modern yet simple style. Exposed brick and concrete is used in the exteriors. The feature of this project is the large glass facade with concrete pieces framing it.

The residence has a separate vehicular and pedestrian entry. The path branches out to the visitor’s lounge of the office. A large garden space at the front creates a scenic view for visitors and residents. The open garden with seating space at the back can be accessed from the kitchen, dining and directly from parking.
The first floor has a family area near the skylight above the double height space. There are 3 bedrooms with attached toilets on this floor. A balcony creating a void space in the form shows the beautiful view of the exteriors. Steps lead to the terrace.
The ground floor has level differences as we go from the entry to the kitchen. This gives the feel of different spaces without rigid partitions. It is an open floor plan consiting of a double height green space with ribbon windows along the wall. A passage connects the house to the lounge for easy access of the residents. Steps from the kitchen and dining lead to the open seating space.

This project is focused on the target as NIT Calicut students, staff, faculty and their families. A survey and market study was conducted to know the requirements of this space. A hypermarket, food courts, clothing & accessories, spaces for entertainment and a few office spaces were focused on in this project.
The concept of this “ a point of view”. I wanted to create a certain fixed path that the customers follow that keeps a fixed final point. To achieve this the complex was divided into different blocks and was staggered in terms of increasing heights. So along the path they follow to see the final point.
The site level was modified to be in two levels with a 3 m difference and a block was placed in the lower level to assist the concept of increasing height as we move through the space.
Materials like brick jaalis, glass curtain walls are used. Double skin facade with the curtain wall and brick jaali ensures cooler temperatures inside. These creates different patterns and views from inside accentuating the concept.

A landscape feature having both ramps and stairs connecting the two levels is given on site.

The Treehouse is an abode for a celebrity singer, song-writer, actress and dancer, Selena Gomez. We were asked to design a small abode for relaxing stay away from the celebrity’s daily life.
The concept of this is “humble abode” a ,simple yet modern, getaway space for the actress. It relates to her humble and down to earth personality offscreen.
A treehouse is a cozy and simple space that also fits into the brief of being located between two existing buildings. The entire space is made with wood and its variations to amplify the feel of being in a treehouse. Multiple trees were also added to site to screen the views and create the feel of being in a treehouse.

The groundfloor consists of a large platform for a grand piano, as it is her most favourite hobby. A space for dancing with a large studio type mirror is also provided. The living space merges with the music space and a kitchenette is provided for light cooking.
The spiral staircases emphasize the feel of climbing up the treehouse and are provided both in the interiors and exteriors. The balconies here provide scenic views to the added trees and plants. The loft functions as a beauty vanity which she also enjoys as an influencer of her own brand. It also provides a resting space after an exhausting day.

CAFE CANDYLAND
The cafe is inspired by the concept of a candyland where everything is made out of edible sweets, chocolates and candies. The form of the cafe is made to be like a gingerbread house with the traditional decorations on the roof, around the windows and doors. The theme and concpet of the cafe go with the function of this being an ice cream & desert cafe.
The site is located near a park and quite introverted while being surrounded by multiple trees. This accentuates the concept of having this “candyland” in the forest like that of Hansel & Gretel.
Cafe Candyland also focuses on the concept that customers these days visit places for the ambience and photo opportunities. This cafe ensures to have multiple elements and backdrops to be photo props which attract the customer base consisting of not only kids but also adults.

CONCEPTUAL PLAN
Interiors and the exteriors were inspired by gingerbread houses from fairytales. The exterior seating spaces have large scale candies and chocolates that customers can take photos with. Interiors were made to look like ice cream cones with drips of icing.
A drive-thru was provided as it has become an option customers are choosing after the pandemic. The cafe has a separate service entry at the back for any restocking activities.
