Dear Members, The selection of the next head golf professional at Meridian Hills is one of the most critical hires we can have as a club. I wanted to give you an update on our progress to date.

As a board, we have established a sub-committee to identify candidates, establish pay range packages and establish a process for the interviewing of qualified and screened applicants. That group includes myself, Bill Smith and Chris Seger.

We have engaged the PGA of America to help us in our search and will be entertaining resumes from many sources including those submitted through a national PGA search process. As many of you know, our Assistant Professional, Michael Bembenick, is also being seriously considered.

In addition, we have identified and contacted several PGA professionals to inquire about their interest in our club. We have had many discussions and will start the formal interview process in mid-September. Our time line that we have established would lead to the selection of the new professional sometime in mid-October.

I wanted to personally thank all of you who have contacted me to weigh in on the process and particular candidates. I appreciate your offers of support and assistance.

I am excited to begin the final stages of the process and am confident it will result in an excellent new head professional for Meridian Hills.

In the meantime, I look forward to seeing you at the club.

Labor Day Hours Monday, September 2nd We are open for lunch & dinner (our regular hours) on Labor Day. So come enjoy your free time at the Club. Please remember that we are then CLOSED on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Message from theGeneral Manager Pool hours have been extended again this year, after Labor Day they will be open 12pm - 7pm (Monday - Sunday). We will continue to keep the pool open in September, weather permitting, please “swim at your own risk”. Please always have a swim partner (swimming alone is not permitted), and all children under 18 must have an adult with them to supervise. There will be a lifeguard on duty from time to time to clean and maintain the facility, but due to only having one lifeguard; members must monitor the conduct and safety of their own children. Thank you in advance for helping keep our pool safe for everyone, so that these extended times are possible.

General Manager

We are having a banner year in new membership growth. Jessica reports we should have over 60 this fiscal year, which is an all-time record! Thank you, Jessica, for the outstanding work you do, thank you to the membership committee and thank you to all sponsoring members! New members are posted on the flat screens at both entrances, so please welcome them and make them feel a part of the MHCC family!

We have two new Dining Room managers that will be working with Rhonda; Patrick Necessary and Tim Leonard. Patrick and Tim join Rhonda in making your dining services special, along with your favorite servers; Angie, Cheryl, Courtney, Danny, Elaina, Jamaar, Jessica, Joel, Jon, Lisa, Marketta, Mary, Mike, and Ryan.

Our Communications Coordinator, Ashley Goldman, is leaving the club with the birth of her second child. Ashley will become a stay at home mom and will continue to assist the club from home with some of our communication pieces. She has been a valued member of the staff for over six years. Ashley, we wish you well and thanks for all that you have done for MHCC. You will be missed.

Kids Club Update

Kids Club & No Diapering Policy Effective September 4th, the Kid’s Club potty training requirement will change to a

“No Diapering” policy. This means that the parents will be called (since they are on premise) to change their child’s diaper if needed.

As always, the age limit is 2 years old and up. Thank you for your understanding as our caregiver’s primary focus is on the care, comfort, learning and respect of all the children.

Golf News Patriot Day

Dear Members: Once again this year, Meridian Hills is proud to support Patriot Golf Day, a national effort by the Folds of Honor Foundation to assist America's military service families by providing educational support to the children of those men and women killed or disabled in service to our nation.

Jeff Cristee, our Club President, has asked me to chair this year's effort as well as to recognize the members of our Meridian Hills family who have served our nation in uniform.

With the help of Jack Barber and his staff, we are dedicating Labor Day Weekend, August 30th - September 2nd to this noble effort. In past years, Meridian Hills has raised $15,000 - $20,000 for the educational support of those children whose parents have sacrificed so much. Your contribution will be recognized publicly in addition to receiving a charitable donation receipt from the Folds of Honor Foundation. You may make your contribution, payable to the Folds of Honor Foundation, in the Pro Shop.

In addition, if you or a member of your family is a veteran, please let us know by e-mail to Jack at mhccpro@aol.com. We would like you to include your branch of service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines or Coast Guard).

Golf Season Reminders

As the summer golf season starts to wind down and we begin to approach the fall golf season Meridian Hills Golf Shop has a few reminders to help you continue to enjoy your visits to our club.

Please remember the following rules apply year-round:

Dress Code

• Please keep your shirt tucked into your slacks at all times • Please wear your hats facing forward • Denim is not permitted to be worn at any time on the golf course or any of the practice facilities

Course Courtesy

• Groups of 5 are still not permitted, only groups of four. As the season comes to an end, this rule will change after October 1st.

• Please help maintain the course by:

o Repairing your ball mark and at least one more

o Replacing your divot or please use sand provided in your cart

o Picking up broken tees, trash, or any tees left on the course

o Please rake each bunker as you leave the bunker • Tee times will end for the year when our closing days are officially over the last week of September

Driving Range

• Starting Sunday, September 8th the driving range will close at 6:00 p.m. The same hours will apply to Wednesday’s.

• Tuesday, Thursday – Saturday the range will remain open until dark.

Monday Golf

• Labor Day, September 2nd, will be the last Monday that the course will be open this year.

NOTE FROM JACK

As the season starts to wind down and as I start preparing to end 28 years in the golf shop, I will be starting to reduce inventory to make the transition for your new Professional very smooth for all parties. Please plan on using your credit in the shop before the season is over. I will have new fall merchandise arriving in the golf shop from mid-September through October. I will continue to offer special sales, promotions and other ways to reduce the inventory.

Any special orders must be placed by November 15, to assure delivery before the end of the year. I will be completely moved out by December 31, to allow the new Professional adequate time to be ready to start the 2014 season.

I have appreciated your support in the golf shop for the past 28 years and I will look forward to helping you with any of your purchases throughout the remaining year.
