Breaking news comes in 140 characters to your Twitter feed, and if you really want to know what an organization is about, their Facebook page is a goto reference point. An easy way to expand your church’s presence and relevance is with a solid social media presence. Social media can help your church promote, inform, and engage dialogue with your community. Here are some tips to help your church get started: ●

Start with Facebook. Even if your church does not have a website, a Facebook page is easy to set up and can provide basic information about your church. Build your church’s relevance with the simple promo “Like us on Facebook!” Consider a website. If this seems too difficult or pricey for your church, purchase a domain name ( and re-direct it to a free and easily maintained site, like Tumblr or Wordpress. Twitter and blogging are great. However, these forms of media require regular updating. Wait until your church is able to maintain a solid presence before entering the Twitter-verse or blogosphere.
