JCI New Jersey, formerly known as New Jersey Jaycees, have been an active and vital part of the state of New Jersey since it's inception on May 1, 1949. It is one of the most active states of the JCI organization within JCI USA which conceived the Jaycees back in 1915 through its founder Henry Giesenbier. Henry Giessenbier was an American banker in St. Louis, Missouri of German ancestry. He became the founder of the Young Men's Progressive Civic Association in 1915 and the United States Junior Chamber in 1920 The goal of the Jaycees is to build tomorrow's leaders today through community, individual, and management development programs led by young professionals who step up to learn and lead its members and the community to the best of their ability. Becoming a member of the New Jersey Jaycees affords you many exciting and rewarding opportunities. As a Jaycee, you can develop business contacts and foster new friendships with others who share similar goals and interests as yourself. The Jaycees also offer a variety of social opportunities across New Jersey, the nation, and internationally. Here are a sample of programs and projects that the state organization has developed throughout the years. Community Programs - The New Jersey Jaycees' community projects ranges from large, nationally based projects to very small efforts that help 1-2 people. We generally support causes that our members are interested in or those that are greatly needed in the community. Past projects where the New Jersey Jaycees have either sponsored or been involved with include: Top 40 Under 40 in Atlantic City, How to Purchase a Home / Credit Repair in Orange-Essex, Child Shield in Westfield, Youth Scholarships in Cranford and Orange-Essex, Firecracker 400 on 4th of July in Cranford, Jaycees 5K Run benefiting area charities in Chatham, 4th of July Parade in Florham Park, Halloween Parades in Cranford and Florham Park, and Dress for Success in Orange-Essex. Individual Development Programs - Our members grow both socially and intellectually through a variety of fun projects we do. These include monthly socials and dinners at area restaurants and taverns, picnics, camping trips, golf outings, etc... Management Development - As a part of the United State Junior Chamber of Commerce, our roots are based in improving the business skills of our members. All members have the opportunity to improve their organizational and budgeting skills by chairing projects. Other members improve their public speaking and people skills by taking an office and helping to lead the organization. In all cases, there is an on-going mentorship between experienced and newer members. The New Jersey Jaycees are part of The United States Junior Chamber (or US Jaycees) and Junior Chamber International (JCI), a worldwide federation of young professionals and entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40. The Jaycees are active in more than 8,000 chapters in 123 nations and territories.

JCI CREED We Believe The faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; That the brotherhood of man transcends the soverignty of nations; That the economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise; That government should be of laws rather than of men; That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality; And that service to humanity is the best work of life.

We Believe That Faith In God Gives Meaning And Purpose To Human Life… Without faith in a greater power, our lives are meaningless. And it is faith in God’s love and His eternal promise that gives purpose to our lives.

That The Brotherhood Of Man Transcend’s The Sovereignty Of Nations … God made man in His own image to work together and share the earth. Jaycees gives us an opportunity to practice the art of living together in the spirit of brotherhood and in the true interest of humanity.

That Economic Justice Can Best Be Won By Free Men Through Free Enterprise For years, men have debated the question of how to best secure freedom for their fellowmen: government regimentation or cooperation of free enterprise and free government? Jaycees believe the best way to nurture and support the rights of all citizens is within the framework of checks and balances known as the free enterprise system.

That Government Should Be Of Laws Rather Than Of Men … Government must rest on a foundation of constitutional law, accepted and ratified by a majority of the people. If government does not rest on such a foundation, tyranny will flourish and people will be manipulated by those in power.

That Earth’s Great Treasure Lies In Human Personality … None of the great and wonderful inventions and discoveries since the world began can compare with something each of us has – the uniqueness of human spirit. That spirit, that personality is the most basic and important element of humanity. And it is that which sets us aside from all other life – yet gives us a special relationship with one another. Jaycees work hard at developing that uniqueness – and that relationship.

And That Service To Humanity Is The Best Work Of Life. Why do Jaycees give so much of their time and energy to their activities? Because they believe that giving of themselves to serve others is really doing what their God asks of them: to make their lives of lasting value, something enduring and immortal. We live through our deeds.
