HP Deskjet 5820 Printer Wireless Setup This document guides you to set up your HP Deskjet GT 5820 printer on a wireless (Wi-Fi) network for the first time.

CHECK THE REQUIREMENTS ➢ An active 802.11 compliant Wi-Fi network ➢ A computer connected to the home network either through a Wi-Fi network or Ethernet cable.

SETUP THE PRINTER HP DESKJET GT 5820 ➢ Unbox your new DJ5820 printer from the package, and then set up the printer hardware. ➢ Fill the ink tanks, align the printheads, and load white paper into the input tray before setting up the wireless connection.

INSTALLATION OF HP PRINTER SOFTWARE ON WINDOWS ➢ If you are provided with a HP Deskjet 5820 Setup software installation disc that supports the version of your computer, insert it into the computer disc drive. ➢ Open the HP folder and open the setup file. Follow the on-screen instructions to begin the installation. ➢ Download the HP software for your HP Deskjet GT 5820 printer from our website. ➢ Click Begin and then click Download next to the full feature HP Deskjet GT 5820 driver download. Once the download is complete, the installation of the full-featured software automatically begins. ➢ The installation progresses until the Connect window opens. Do not click Continue in the Connect window at this point.

Continue the printer software installation (Only Windows) ➢ On your computer screen, return back to the HP installation Connect screen and then, click Continue. ➢ Until a Connections Options screen displays, read and respond to each software installation screen. ➢ Check the printer’s control panel to see if the power button light is fully lit and the wireless light is blinking.

➢ Select Wireless – Make a wireless connection to the HP Deskjet GT 5820 Setup printer on the Connection Options screen, and then click Next. ➢ After the completion of the installation, it checks your network configuration and displays any one of the following screens that provide the best available method to complete the wireless setup. ➢ HP Auto Wireless Connect: The network check will automatically gather information about your network configuration and displays it on the HP Auto Wireless Connect window. Click Yes, and then click Next. ➢ Wireless Setup using a USB connect: If the network check could not gather your network settings, connect a USB cable from your computer to the HP Deskjet 5820 Printer, and then click Next. INSTALLATION OF HP PRINTER SOFTWARE ON MAC ➢ Go to our website and enter the printer model name, and click Begin. Click the Join button if the name and network are correct.

➢ HP Easy Start requests to access the selected wireless network keychain on your Mac. Click Allow to proceed. ➢ HP Easy Start cannot locate the wireless network passphrase and prompts you to enter the password manually if you click Deny. ➢ HP Easy Start sets up the printer and connects it to the wireless network. The Join button is replaced by a check mark. ➢ Click Continue on the HP Easy Start window. ➢ The Install window gives various options for software like HP Essential Software, HP Easy Scan and more to be installed for your HP Deskjet GT 5820 Setup printer. ➢ Select the items you want to install, and then click Continue. ➢ You must create a print queue in order to print from OS X. Click Add Printer, on the Enable Printing window. ➢ Click the HP Deskjet GT 5280 printer in the Add window and select your printer name in the Use menu. ➢ To verify that the printer was set up correctly, click Print Test Page and after verifying printing, click Continue.

Restoring the wireless setting on the printer (Both Windows and Mac) ➢ Turn on the DJ5820 printer and make sure it is in an idle state. ➢ On the printer’s control panel, press the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time and then, hold them for 3 seconds. ➢ The wireless light next to the Wireless button should blink. If the light was already blinking continue to the next step. ➢ Repeat the steps if the wireless light is not blinking. ➢ Now, continue to the next step to install the software, immediately.
