PAR is all about the analogue

We make prints according to analogue photographic techniques that go back as far as 1842. These processes don’t need a computer or even a camera. Handmade and therefore always unique. We combine this with high end and responsible materials for present day products. This results in wonderous designs for notebooks, greeting cards and of course DIY art kits.

Capture the sun

Make beautiful handmade cyanotypes (blueprints) of natural subjects using the sun. Transforming watercolour paper into photographic paper sensitive to UV-light, you can uncover all kinds of details you would normally not see.

The DIY art kits have everything you need to make your own beautiful blueprints at home. The different kits cater to all creative needs; from beginner to pro and serve as wonderful original gifts.

And you must be carefull: it’s quite addictive ;) So we have all kinds of refills for you too.

Dedicated to cameraless photography

We started in 2013 and are located in Leiden in the west of The Netherlands. Over time our activities have grown to three locations catering to office activities, workshops, production, storage and logistics. We have a steady workforce of 12 people, that we expand to 20 in busy times.

We are also very proud that our products are assembled by workplaces that employ people with a distance to the normal workforce due to mental or physical challenges. These workplaces are governmentally run.

We try to use as much recycable, recycled or biodegradable materials as possible in our products and update them whenever possible.

We make it of importance to get as much of our supplies from as close as possible to ensure no unnecessary shipping and assurances of EU regulations. Suppliers from outside the EU are checked for necessary certificates,

The Cyanotype technique

The Cyanotype technique was discovered in 1842 when photography was just startng up. There were a lot of experiments with making surfaces sensitive to light. Cyanotype was one of those experiments that proved most practical. It was one of the first techniques to reproduce images. It is the origin of the architectural blueprints made in the following decades.

Biologist Anna Atkins was the first to use this technique a lot. Being a scientist, she started making prints and books with hundreds of different types of weed and algea. A handful of her original books are preserved. One of those stunning books is in the photography collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Anna Atkins is now seen as the first female photographer ever.

Meet our DIY kits everyone can do it!

We love to share our love for analogue photography. These kits contain everything you need to get started (and addicted ;) to blueprinting at home. You only need to add tapwater and some sunshine to make sun prints just like they did in 1842! There’s no need for any experience, a computer or even a photocamera. Accompanied by clear instructions in English, French, German and Dutch and tips&tricks so you can keep experimenting on your own.
